You are way late to the party on this.StarBrand wrote:I'd probably ask that much if I had the only copy on the Bay, and at least keep that price for a while.Elveen wrote:StarBrand wrote:Stumptown #1 first-print seems hard to find. Only one copy on eBay right now, with an asking price of 39.99.
I have not seen this book go for that much. But it is a $15-$20 book.
also, very hard to find.

When it first came out long ago, it moved for $30. I think I sold mine for $35 a week or two after it came out. It quickly dropped to a $10 book.
This copy may sell if it's the only copy on ebay right now, but it's not indicative of the prices that it has moved for over the last few months. If someone buys it, it's because they don't want to wait for another copy (cheaper) to be listed.
Check the completed items and you'll see that Elveen speaks the truth - $10-15 over multiple sales
Just showing the one copy currently out there on ebay and stating the asking price doesn't necessarily give all the information needed for flippers to make an informed decision. This could lead board members to put more stock in this book (or any other) than they should.
I'd prefer it if the completed auctions search info was made available in posts as well. For instance, I'd rather not see a board member see your post and then go to an LCS and find this book for $15 and buy it thinking they will sell it easily for $40 on ebay.
I'm not trying to preach at you, but if there's more info readily available, why not share it so that everyone who reads this thread is more knowledgeable and better informed?

I'm sure I'm late to the party on a lot of stuff.400yrs wrote:You are way late to the party on this.StarBrand wrote:I'd probably ask that much if I had the only copy on the Bay, and at least keep that price for a while.Elveen wrote:StarBrand wrote:Stumptown #1 first-print seems hard to find. I just picked up a copy of this and two of the Joe Kubert cover version for 75 cents each in my LCS' overstock books boxes. They're not dead on NM, since they were unbagged, but still a good deal.StarBrand wrote:Conan The Cimmerian #1 regular cover from 2008 seems hard to find and pricey. No copies are on eBay, and mycomicshop is out. At the moment Mile High's search function is bringing back convoluted results, but last time I checked they were out of this book as well.

I haven't been able to unload the copies I found. I got 1 regular and 2 Kuberts. I keep lowering the price, but nothing. Same with the Amory Wars in keeping secrets #1 books.Brother J wrote:I just picked up a copy of this and two of the Joe Kubert cover version for 75 cents each in my LCS' overstock books boxes. I think I need to just stick to the Image books I know because I'm not having luck with any of the other stuff like this stuff or Wolverine Origins or anything else.
The Darkwing Ducks are about the only thing that have been good to me aside from the Image books that I believe in.

It's still too early to tell. At about $25, it hasn't faded much at all really. A good sign is that #2 still moves around $10 pretty often and the second print of #1 is usually around $12.Draco wrote:I see Morning Glories # 1, 1st print slowing down now.
Great to flip and have fun with at the start, but no legs as expected.
Once a trade comes out and more people read it, we'll see.

It may be the cover. Or maybe that there was only 1 printing of this book rather than a first, a second and variants.maraxusofkeld wrote:What's so special about the issue?StarBrand wrote:I sold a bunch of Amazing Spider-Man 607s at 13.00 ea including shipping. Here's an auction that includes one of the scarce Whitman pre-pack only issues, according to Doug Sulipa, a dealer who is very knowlegdeable about the Whitman rarities, WW #191 is supposedly the rarest of the pre-pack books:

I think it's the cover, but it's one of those deals where it's hard to say exactly why it commands more than other books from the run.400yrs wrote:It may be the cover. For me, I've noticed that the Meltzer run on Green Arrow is pretty tough to find, in particular issues # 17 & 18. as are some of the early issues of Fables (2-5). Around here, Chew #1-3 are impossible. You can NOT find ANY of the Transformers books from 09, period. I know, because a friend collects them and has had to order them from online.
Is is just lower print runs or are books being snatched up quicker OR is a combination?

Interesting. One thing I know, I don't know why some of these books do well.xodacia81 wrote:For me, I've noticed that the Meltzer run on Green Arrow is pretty tough to find, in particular issues # 17 & 18. as are some of the early issues of Fables (2-5).
