So am I, talk about stereotypes! Wow, never knew other states would think of the entire state of Cali as gay, SF the city itself I would understand, even though that's a total misnomer too, SF is gutter ghetto ruff in alot of parts and totally ritzy in others, pretty damn diverse I must say. Never heard that one before as far as the whole state!

Just listened to the new episode last night and I loved it. The debate between Sean and Zeph about VEI was priceless! My one question is, is it really fair to say that VEI has had 5 years to publish? Maybe my memory is on the fritz, but weren't they tied up in a lawsuit with VIP for a good period of that time? I know when the Harbinger HC came out they were still having copyright problems.
Anyways, great show and I can't wait to hear more.

This is a good point in regard to some of the 5 years being tied up in lawsuit crud

This is a really good point that I didn't bring up in the episode. For the first couple years of their existence, VEI was in the "lawsuit fighting" business, not the "comic book publishing business". It is pretty obvious that at least the Harbinger hardcover was released to set legal precedent, not to start publishing comics.etos45 wrote:Just listened to the new episode last night and I loved it. Very interesting point and something that I think "scares" some people because of what it may imply.Dr. Solar wrote:This is a really good point that I didn't bring up in the episode. Huh? I think it implies that the hardcovers were put out to protect their rights to publish material in the future, not to get books into the hands of fans right away.xodacia81 wrote:Very interesting point and something that I think "scares" some people because of what it may imply.Dr. Solar wrote:This is a really good point that I didn't bring up in the episode. I agree that Harbinger was printed to protect their copyright, but I think that was it. By the time X-O and A&A came out they had already won and could start publishing whatever they wanted. I think they chose the HC approach to boost revenue with minimal expense. However, they did manage to get new (and good) material into fans hands and hopefully intrigue new fans into the old franchise. Where they failed is that they couldn't get them out on time and then they just stopped. I half expected a HC for all of the hot titles jumping immediately into an ongoing series.Dr. Solar wrote:Huh? If I may offer my thoughts on the gay discussion...Chiclo wrote:Ah, I see.MoonChild wrote:Notice I didn't say Mr. Clean or anything like thatMoonChild wrote:And this whole time I was sure Zeph was gay
Z says he's not. And he seems a little irritated.
No matter what happened in the past with Zeph, he doesn't deserve to be slandered on this board, let alone the Only The Valiant podcast thread. The fact is, he's helping to do us fans a service by taking the time out of his schedule with both Sean and Chiclo to create the new podcasts.
Let's focus on the comic/podcast discussions here instead, folks

Well, that is why they failed. If they had continued with the HCs while figuring out how to relaunch, I think there would have been a lot less irritated fans. It wouldn't have been that hard to do and I assume that the cost wouldn't have exceeded the revenue. I sort of think that whatever caused the delay of A&A may answer why they didn't make any more.dave wrote:Which leads to the question, why not at least another HC or two or three by now even?

Last one, I swear... I was never insinuating that Zeph was gay in order to slander him... I wanted to make a joke... and slander California.JonesyAZ wrote:If I may offer my thoughts on the gay discussion...Chiclo wrote:Ah, I see.MoonChild wrote:Notice I didn't say Mr. Clean or anything like thatMoonChild wrote:And this whole time I was sure Zeph was gay

I think all 3 OTV hosts are great. The different personalities really complement each other well.
As far as next story discussions, Chaos Effect is the next big event after Malev War so I think Chas Effect would work.
Also how about discussing the lesser known Gold Key titles like Doctor Spektor, Mighty Samson, . . . Not sure if there's enough content about the lesser known titles to fill the whole show and not sure if the OTV expense budget covers getting the original GK material.

Doctor Spektor! There's a character that I know nothing about, but would certainly be interested TO know moreiggy101us wrote:I think all 3 OTV hosts are great. The different personalities really complement each other well.

Like I said, no dis intended, I honestly thought he was, due to the innuendo on the show, that said, if someone thought I was when i'm not I would take offense as well, that's why I said my bad.Dr. Solar wrote:Yes, be kind to our homies that couldn't be here.Chiclo wrote:Z says he's not. There were two issues of the Doctor Spektor run that had a Doctor Solar crossover. Those were anomalies in the runs, not any specific related storylines or anything. Remember, there was no Gold Key universe, per se. We like to lump the Valiant incarnations with the Gold Key incarnations and assume those characters interacted like the Valiant ones. But it didn't happen.JonesyAZ wrote: Doctor Spektor! For those aware of Spektor, was he ever related to the original Doctor Solar property (other than Gold Key-related)?
