Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Comics Of Any Era

It kind of makes sense. The over-hyped issue has plenty printed usually, but the run-up books feel the heat without the print-runs.depluto wrote:That is pretty funny ... run-up books might be the new hotness.

It would've been easy to buy a few extras of the issues leading up to this issue, as everyone knew something big was coming.

They have gone down a bit last time I checked, but still have some heat.StarBrand wrote:Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread or not... (My photographic memory is running on old film at the moment.)
Legends Of The Dark Knight #11-15 are doing well at the moment. It's the Prey storyline, which is said to be the next movie storyline.

Walking Dead 33 2nd print (blue cover) - I've been able to move 3 of these from VF- to NM- between $15 and $30. You may be able to find these in shops not in the know, but it's tougher to find than the first print.
There is also now a small bit of traction on the first print (red cover) moving from $5-8. I bought a bunch when they first came out. I anticipate it shooting up a bit a few years down the line when it's not in shops anymore and when they get to that particular part in the TV show. brutal.
The same thing is happening a bit with issue #48 which i feel the same about.
#19 is moving for good money, but I'm hanging on to my extra copy until Michonne is introduced in the TV show (which I've heard is supposed to be by the end of next season). She may be the most interesting character after Rick.
#27 is movinf for decent money, but IMO, it's undervalued right now and should shoot up when the governor character is introduced / re-introed.

Yes, it's a bad sign. The reality of it is that you can really buy nearly anything for a buck a few months later.tmcneil82 wrote:Is it a bad sign when I think any book that still sells for cover price, 3 months after it came out, is "hot"?
Seriously, most books are quarter - dollar bin fodder in this time frame.
I think what is going on (and what I may do) is that people are buying some singles and then deciding to switch to trades so they get rid of the singles. I might do that for Sweet Tooth. Less people buying singles, more buying trades. Digital is going to have to make up for the losses in singles, I think. One day, it could be nearly all digital and trades.

Ah, I screwed this one up. At a local show I went to today, a dealer had a nice run of Legends of the Dark Knight for 25 cents a book. Sadly, I got mixed up and bought the story arc following the Prey storyline, picked up the "Venom" story instead. I'll hold on to them in hopes that the Venom connection to Bane might heat them up, but damn, I missed out!StarBrand wrote:Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread or not... Yeah, but Chew 1 levels? I don't see any reason any of these books will sniff $50 let alone $175-200.Doorman wrote:vikingspawn's got a good point. there's certainly a good chance that these issues could reach higher prices similar to the last issues of the valiant runs. though, maybe not anytime soon.

Yep. In fact, 2 sold today for $180 and $200 listed as NM and NM-, respectively.ian_house wrote:Is Chew up to that now? I really need to think about selling mine.400yrs wrote:Yeah, but Chew 1 levels? It has sold in that range for a little while now.
Remember at first when there were a whole lot of copies up on ebay and the books was still rising to $25, then $50 then $75?
Well, currently there are only 2 first print, raw unsigned copies up right now. All those copies from a year ago are now in personal collections and the people who still want them are forced to battle over the few copies up at any one time.

Sweet. Gotta make the effort to dig it out and list it. I think it's NM but I'm useless with grading. If I post a pic would someone take a gander?400yrs wrote:Yep. Sure, but it has to be a good pic and even then, it's not 100% like in person.ian_house wrote:Sweet. Gotta make the effort to dig it out and list it. I think it's NM but I'm useless with grading. Is that a new custom?

I think I discussed this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
A few books to keep an eye out for - Amazing Spider-man 638 (2nd), 648 (2nd), 649 (2nd), 650 (2nd).
These are tough to find, particularly the 638. It's all black with a big "O" on it as it was the first issue of the OMIT arc. I saw a copy of this several months ago in a 2/$5 variant box and I left it there and picked up a stupid Solar SDCC variant instead.
After that, I looked for the book online and in shops and couldn't find it anywhere. When they came on ebay, they were snatched right away.
I finally found a copy a few weeks ago in a shop in the back of the stack of 638s. It's a bit beaten on the spine, but am happy to have it.
The book is now selling between $50-80. The high prices have flushed out some copies onto ebay.
The 648-650 set of 2nds is selling for about $30 a set. You should still be able to find these in shops. I don't think this one is going to end up being quite as hard to find as the 638, but it's going to be much rarer than the first prints. The first prints are selling pretty well too...... above cover which is good for a modern. People seem to be liking Big Time so far.

I think they probably intended to do all four letters for OMIT for each of the 4 parts, but they saw that the first prints didn't sell out and abandoned the idea.
