I am sure there are more. Is this just speculation or just low print runs. I moving toward speculation. Anybody else have thoughts?
I can think of 3 reasons: Walking Dead, Invincible, Chew.

Kind of both. Plus, Rich Johnston brings them up on his Bleeding Cool site.

Nonplayer got a lot of buzz because of the art and positive early reviews (people like Moebius and Warren Ellis were praising it)

There are multiple Goon #1's from the Avatar series in the last few weeks that have ended at $200+. I was thinking of purging all my runs, but kind of feel that this will be a big deal book in the years to come.

It's both right now.

The print runs are low because retailers just don't order them because they can't afford taking a gamble on using up a shelf space slot with an Image #1 that they might sell 2-3 copies of when they know they can sell 10-15 copies of whatever DC Green Lantern spin-off or Deadpool gimmick book that is out.

I know that some here have wondered if Image was under-printing books on purpose. My answer has always been no because it makes no sense. Hell, it makes more sense for the big 2 to do that than Image.

Here is Jim Valentino's comments about this on the Image board:
Jim Valentino wrote:To set the record straight we would rather NOT go into a second or third printing.
Every time a book is reprinted it costs US money and each printing has diminished returns.
That's Publishing 101.

We OVER PRINT to avoid it--oftimes by a considerable margin (20-25%) to AVOID going back to press.

For each of the titles listed above, there are still twice as many Image #1s that do nothing. Once people hear a book is good, they probably try to snatch them up hoping they have the next Chew. I've only done that with books that I really think are special - Chew, Proof, Morning Glories. I still have to read Green Wake. Most of the other ones don't interest me. Few books are truly new or special to me anyway.

I just sold a TWD 33 second print for $30 and a TWD 19 for $55 plus shipping. New highs on both (for me). This reinforces my thoughts that once all the other copies dry up, people will pay to get these books.

I've never had a 33 second print make it through a full month because there are so few of them.

Fantastic Four 579 first-print (non-variant) seems hard to find at the moment. It's the first Future Foundation.
I could only find one seller offering it on the Bay, and Mile High and mycomicshop are out.

X-Men 128 from the Morrison run might be worth picking up if you can find it cheap. I heard of a guy who just picked up 3 copies at 3.00 ea from a local comic store. I only saw 4 or 5 listed on the Bay.

Each of those are among the best reads on the market.

I just sold a raw high grade copy of Chew #1 for $325 shipped.

Listed as $344.95 obo. I got 2 offers. Both were solid. The book was only up for 3-4 days, I think and had about 50 views and 8 watchers.

Well, this is just dirty. Check out this auction below by cmartin listed at $329.99.

http://cgi.ebay.com/CHEW-1-1ST-PRINT-La ... 3a66677086

Those are my scans from my auction. He was the other offer at $250. Is it within ebay rules to flip like this without owning, much less possessing the item?

I'll have to remember this seller to make sure I keep this tactic in mind (he may not even own the book yet).

On the other hand, if you want a quick $250, sell your copy to this dude.

I used to watch this seller quite a bit, as he'd often lead me to hot books.

Well I know two things.

#1) He checks out this forum.

and.... #2) The item was removed.

I've seen vikes do it a few times. If vikes does it, that means that it is shady but not against eBay rules. Yet.
