Well one thing is for sure if nothing else 2010 and on is turning out to be the Revival Age of Comics.StarBrand wrote:I really never picked the Prophet up back then, but I bought a few of the second series from 1995 a couple days ago to check it out. That series features Chuck Dixon scripts with Stephen Platt art, which I think is a pretty amazing creative team.BruceReville wrote:Ok is it me or is that cover just - Blah. Also this is not the same Prophet I remember from Image Comics - long sleep or not - doesn't even resemble him in the slightest.StarBrand wrote:Not many copies of this book on eBay. It should be in stores today...

I think the interviews indicated that this Prophet doesn't have any connection to the original.BruceReville wrote: Also this is not the same Prophet I remember from Image Comics - long sleep or not - doesn't even resemble him in the slightest.![]()

This looks like two different covers of Prohpet 21. Not sure if it has a 50/50 cover, or has an incentive variant.

Yeah, Prophet 21 is a 50/50 cover. Here's a set of both at 18.00. Several copies have sold at 9.99 ea, and one set of both closed at 20.00.

I just stopped by my LCS and they had four Prophet 21s on the shelf. I took one, left the rest for some other schlub.

I was in a shop getting some Walking Dead back issues. So I grabbed one of the Prophet books and read it.depluto wrote:I just stopped by my LCS and they had four Prophet 21s on the shelf. I took one, left the rest for some other schlub.
The idea is interesting but I REALLY disliked this book. I really feel that the entire story I got could be told in 2 pages with 8 panels. Not a fan.

I don't get it ... Daredevil is always going to be a second-tier character and I think prices on these will sink pretty far in a year or so. Just my opinion.

Agreed. The prices on these won't stay up for long. With that being said, it really is the best Marvel book being put out right now.

The prior relaunch did the same thing...the initial issues sold for $$ then cooled after a year or two. But as four hundred says, it is an excellent read and for several years now I've found it quite good. 2nd tier or not...is it a strong, entertaining read? That's the important thing.

Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
I've read all 3....Cap isn't nearly as good of late. DD is quite strong, X-Force is good but I'm growing tired of all things X-Men, might have to sell soon with the prices those are bringing.superman-prime wrote:DD and cap have been the only marvel ive read in a while im thinking about x force soonor or later
I'm thinking of dropping Cap and looking into Brubaker's new Winter Soldier book - that character has always interested me and is one of the best aspects of Brubaker's run.
I'm also enjoying Journey into Mystery most months. Gillen is a talented, fresh writer.

Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
Walking Dead #19 is BLAZING! That book is about to be the #4 in value of WD books (right now it is currently #5). The price has jumped about $40 (or so) in the last 2-3 weeks.
Also, an Invincible #1 just sold for $150+
When Invincible gets a TV/Movie deal those books will skyrocket. 4Hun might know who has the "rights" for Invincible (I think MTV did at one point) but if AMC could get a hold of it, wow! They could rotate WD and Invinc "seasons".
I'll tell you, I'm glad I have a #1.

Honestly, right now, if you had to buy them individually, maybe a grand or more. I've seen #2 get to $300-ish. Heck I've sold #7 2nd print for $40+.
If you had the $$$ you could get a complete set for $1,500-ish. I've seen a set go for higher. I was talking to a dealer that I trust, and he told me he sold a #1 for $1K. Just the #1! That is some BIG quid.
That being said...... the books are a GREAT read, the TV show is GREAT and doing great with ratings (7.3 mil for episode #1 season #2 and the mid-season finale did 6.6 mil!) With 16 episodes coming for season #3, it looks like the #s are not going to change much.
Another WD book to get if you see it (doubtful) is #27. That book has also skyrocketed.

Every once and a while you can get a good deal.
#11 can be pricy, but I have seen some deals on the 'bay at times.
One thing I can tell you is that you can get #5 and #6 cheaper than #10-12.
