Not a freaking clue who he is...here use my shovel.MagnusRF wrote:Who the heck is ricomortis????? And where do I go to hit him with a shovel????

Well...sorry I don't care for the book personally. I was gonna bid 600, but seeing how it was only 152 at the time I bid 300 I figured no one was going to bid on it after the first mishap. Now here is the real kicker...if I won, I was going to keep 1 crumby copy, GIVE one to greg, and then sell the rest to you guys for the cost of the auction divided by 8. Oh well...Superbowl was more important I guess....lol
We live, we learn, we lose....hmmm don't see the point.

I wouldn't exactly trust the seller's grading. I received 2 auctions from him last week. The packaging was pretty poor - about 10 of the books were bent from HIS actual packaging (not damage in transit). The box the guy used to ship them was shoddy and looked like it had been used for 10 previous shippings.mrwoogieman wrote:Maybe not when at least six of them will be 9.6 or better...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:This actually probably ended better than the original one would have, though we'll never know...
I DO know that $50+ for these books is CRAZY.
Also, he described the books as VF/NM or better and many were not. I don't think the seller really has a clue regarding comics.

First that sounds pretty scary for whoever won. Secondly I dont think that a huge premium will be placed on these books if they are graded, right now. Sure if a bunch of them turn up then there is a premium for them, but it is like the BS Plat. I dont think that it commanded a hgher price when it was graded.400yrs wrote:I wouldn't exactly trust the seller's grading. I received 2 auctions from him last week. By scan or in person? A lot of the times the difference between a 9.6 and say a 9.2 can't be seen in a scan. For instance, interior flwas, spine flaws, and impressions (non-color breaking) often cannot be seen by scan alone.mrwoogieman wrote:Well, I previewed these books last week while they were still running, and the copies were all stunners. I would guess at least six of them, maybe as many as eight, were 9.6 and better issues.
But if he's not packing them up properly, then they won't stay that nice for long!
If you saw them in person and they were that nice, I hope he does pack them well. Sheesh

Does this have anything to do with the first auction being pulled?mrwoogieman wrote:In person of course!400yrs wrote:By scan or in person? And dellamorte did well as well. Pity, though, I had some ideas for them comics. Seems a couple of other board members had similar ideas btw.
Interesting how there always is some heavy hitter around for the Valiant stuff on eBay. Always been during all my years there. Almost always been great fans who show up here in the end. Maybe we'll get to know who lorall2000 is.

Rather similar to what Ricomortis and others were thinking. Also in the back of my head I tossed some ideas. No exact thinking but maybe some kind of "start and end of Valiant" package with this comic plus the Mario special that started it all (not counting the preview) and maybe more. I didn't make exact plans beforehand and now it's academic.dino wrote:what were your plans for the books magnus?
Hey, maybe lorall2000 has funny plans.

This person HAS to be a lurker if not already a member. How else would anyone know to bid that much on an auction for a crappy Turok book?magnusr wrote:

Either that, or it was a shill bid gone bad, but I don't think that's the case.
