I'm not sure if he's still around, but that Knob Row guy did a lot of good work for Valiant. I'd bring him back if he was interested.

Bernard Chang has always been one of my favorite artists. I'd love to see him doing ANYTHING, Valiant related or not.

While (as my first post indicates) Lapham is my clear first choice, I also wouldn't mind seeing Morales. I'm not too involved with what Artist's used to do more than I am what they can do now (from what I can tell). For instance I actually think Bart Sear's work has deteriorated (or at least what I think of it). Morales is capable of drawing something like Identity Crisis, and whether one like the story or not - I found the art to be rather incredible. No question Rags has stepped up his game.

My choice of Lapham (which I'm somewhat surprised isn't as popular) comes from the memory of this guy (his art) that was one of those guys in that era that was doing incredible work that wasn't attributed to 'flash' - this is a guy who still told stories with art, not just supplied drawings around the story.
I think the reason Lapham is not mentioned more is because Harbinger was a book not necessarily known for its artwork, and also, because I think Shooter edited each panel with a fine tooth comb, and though he did not actually draw the book, I think he dictated what went on pretty much in each frame or page. Lapham was very young at the time and went on to do great things which I am a big fan of in the future. But Harbinger was Shooters book more than anything else.

"Knob row" was just that a row of knobs that could turn or be turned to get a job done quickly.
If you happened to be at the office and could do something to get a
deadline driven book out, you became a member of "knob row".
Many of us are or have been members.
Marvel has theirs and DC just calls it the production room.
Now you know.

Btw, Mac, many of us know you said you don't want to do a regular series, if much comic work in general, beyond the odd commission here or there, but I think I speak for many when I say you'd be a top ten or even five choice for a lot of us, far as who we'd want to be part of the new VALIANT. That is totally honest, zero SQUEE kissing, too.

Thats great to hear but i have no interest in doing that, i just started a massive project that will lead to more advertising/movie work.
So, other than commissions you wont see me drawing any thing for
Valiant.

Yeah, I was just being goofy.

And I don't think I've said so before, but I never really knew of your name or your work before your activity on this board over the last year or so. But what I've seen, I've really loved, and I would like to add my voice to the group begging you to do some work for Valiant. It seems you're heading in another direction in your career (good luck!), but I hope you can find time for maybe a cover or a special issue here and there.

Good luck and power to you, Mac. Do what makes you happy. Your work, in the past and in the future, in any medium, is appreciated. A truly talented artist, no matter the genre. In addition to working on my degree in history, I write short stories-working on two books, as well- and have done a fair amount of "genre" work-all underground scifi stuff-and as much as I love it, I truly understand how you could get sick of it and want to do something else. I am pretty much finished with writing scifi, so I think it's great that you are doing things you love, instead of trapped in a rut. :thumb:

Like so many have said already, Barry-Windsor Smith would be my #1 choice -- his influence is tied into so many aspects of the original Valiant universe. To have BWS back would be the icing on the cake.

Well, Bob Hall's already back so I would have to say that BWS and Sean Chen would be the next on my list.
