Not everything was bad. Acclaim had a few decent ideas.

It looks like this time around X-O is going to be replacing Solar as the central character. I'm thinking the Vine might be more relevant than the spider aliens were.

Yeah I get that impression as well, Usually the first comic is the "flagship" title no? (Or should be) To spawn the New Valiant. Lots of sh1t can happen out there in space, and Aric, like Phil probably has a better reason to Kill those 8 legged freaks (being in stasis for 1600 years, and being displaced from your family etc) In the original Xo He got to go back to 408 after Unity, with the XO but they pretty much wanted to burn him at the stake, which was interesting, I wonder if the new Universe will tell a similar tale? hmm

If they have time arcs and Timewalker then he can send him back in time.No need for Solar.Just an idea.

If the first book is the main character, I think that makes Magnus the central V1 hero.

But I agree that X-O looks to become the central hero of VEI. I'm okay with that. I think we will see Bloodshot and Sting also take on very big roles.

I would love to geek out and start creating new heroes for Valiant, but I think this new Valiant needs to be flushed out a bit before we start seeing new heroes. The original Valiant took its time (and then went gangbusters). Rai I think was the first new hero and he was in #5 of Magnus.

I like to see Rai of the Future and Psi-Lords be around, I would especially like to see Tekla and the Steel Nation return.

Surprised no one has mentioned HARD Corps. I liked them a lot, but it doesn't seem to popular on these boards.

Great discussion, keep it up.

I've been re-reading Valiant - and HARDCorps has surprised me. So far it's a rather decent read. I haven't made it to the end yet. From what I've heard, it doesn't end well, though.

Others mentioned liking the Acclaim Bloodshot, too. I haven't read again - but remember liking it more than the end of original Bloodshot. I also liked the SOLAR stuff in Acclaim. Only six issues, but they packed a HECK of a punch.

Certainly, Acclaim wasn't any pre-Unity stuff, but much of it was better than the stumbling done at the end of the Valiant publication line (I know, under Acclaim, already...)

Shadowman V3 and Armorines were absolutely high points. Pick those up if you can find them. Unity 2000 had a good direction - but poorer than expected execution.

I've been trying - and reading Marvel Silver age at the same time. I'm WAY behind, but my daughter has been reading, too. It's better - and in isolated cases - ESPECIALLY in Marvel Silver - much worse than I'd remembered (or been told).

I agree in both instances - it started fairly well but alas the dénouement arc was a mess.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

I would love to see Sting playing a bigger role this time around. I think that character had so much potential to be nixed so soon (I know he kind of came back as Visitor and Harbinger, but it just isn't the same for me).

I think the new Valiant is sitting on so many good characters that it might be a while before we see some new ones. Which is good, I'd much rather see them tackle the known characters before throwing in new guys.

If I remember right, Tekla is a Valiant property, right? I wonder if they would try to do anything with that? :hm:

I really hope they don't wait too long to see the immortal brothers, Gilad especially.

I've re-read my old valiants recently (starting last summer) and I still though EW held up pretty good right through to the end. There were some forgettable issues of course but overall I thought it was solid. Wings was one of the best stand alone stories IMHO.
