Whoa!! I never knew who VIP was. It was never disclosed because of confidentiality agreements. For those who aren't familiar with the history, you can listen to The OTV podcast episode 3.
VIP acquired the Trademarks during after Acclaim filled for bankruptcy when the expired.. VIP with the trademarks did not show up to the auction to bid for the copyrights for the Valiant characters.

Re: VALIANT Teams with Dynamic Forces for lithos, statues, m
To be clear, VIP did not acquire the trademarks. They APPLIED for them. Like someone might apply for a job. VIP was never awarded the trademarks... just like people who apply don't always get the job. When the VEI/VIP issue was resolved, VIP dropped their applications... which they never won.drmirage wrote:Whoa!! I never knew who VIP was. Thanks for clearing that up. So did VIP register the trademarks? Or the were trying to register the trademarks. All we know us that they (VIP) never showed up at the auction.

Re: VALIANT Teams with Dynamic Forces for lithos, statues, m
VE1 could not be that annoyed at Dynamic Forces to get into bed with them in business.
Maybe we read to much into what happened and it didn't affect VE1 so bad as we think.
I don't even know why Dynamic Forces exsist
Why can't valiant choose any random printing company to print lithographs
Orginal valiant had their signature series comics
Don't know how they where solicited, was it through previews ?

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Re: VALIANT Teams with Dynamic Forces for lithos, statues, m
The key word is "applied". Applications are reviewed, official trademark requirements (actions and legal documents) are necessary, and a trademark decision is eventually made (which can be "no").drmirage wrote:Thanks for clearing that up. In the event that an application for trademark is granted, it becomes registered.
In short, VIP never had the Valiant trademarks. They wanted them, applied for them, but didn't get them.
VIP was to the Valiant trademarks as Nicholas Cage was to Superman.

Re: VALIANT Teams with Dynamic Forces for lithos, statues, m
I asked Dino about this statue at the NYCC. He told me they were no longer using DF... I can't recall the company name he said was working on it. He also said it was 18 months away from release. I asked about price and he said it would be in the $300 to $400 range, probably closer to $400.

It's cool and all (and I'd totally buy one if I wasn't so broke all the time) but how many of these things are they actually expecting to sell, especially at that price range? X-O is their most popular book sure, but they're still a small time company with about 1% of the market sharejmatt wrote:I asked Dino about this statue at the NYCC. Re: VALIANT Teams with Dynamic Forces for lithos, statues, m
I thought it was Quarantine Studios for the statue, and that it had been for quite some time. Maybe the lithos through DF are going away. If so, I'm glad I got the one from the cover being used for the statue. They'll look good together.
