Nintendo books were actually my first comics ever, so - nostalgia to the max. Never knew they were Valiant until years later.Dr Noel wrote:For some reason my valiant collector OCD doesn't act up with the KFC and cheesy whatever books. I do like getting the nintendo books since mario and zelda remind me of the 'good old days.'
*SQUEE* your science, I have a machine gun.

I remember when I was a kid collecting proofs of purchase to send off for the Cheeseasaurus comic advertised on the box but we never mailed them off. I have a copy now, though.

No valiant Logo or title on the covers makes the sneak preview the first "Official" Valiant comic (preview) with the MArio Special edition #1 being the first actual full comic I think. The others are just advertisements in my opinion.
The nintendo books and preview can be relatively affordable if you don't care too much about condition and are patient. High grade will likely cost an arm and a leg.
Though I gave up my Pre VH1 nintendo raws when things were tough.. I think I still kept my slightly beat up sneak preview
and I've definitely still got my 2 nintendo hardcovers and the 4 action books.

It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

"Introducing the villainy of... CHEESEFINGER"
Did that character make the staple of 1500 they got with the IP rights?
It's cool that there is such a bizarre collectible out there that comes from the earliest Valiant days - it's like a compressed version of the period when Marvel was 'Timely Comics' before the birth of the modern Marvel U in the 60's.
I'm almost tempted to hunt down the Nintendo stuff too, the idea definitely tickles my NES nostalgia bone...

Interesting. So that's how they were distributed (or at least one of the ways). Do you remember how it was presented on the box?Chiclo wrote:I remember when I was a kid collecting proofs of purchase to send off for the Cheeseasaurus comic advertised on the box but we never mailed them off. I just remember there were ads on the back of the box. Send so many UPC codes in before some date, that sort of thing. There were lots and lots of Cheesasaurus odds and ends promoted thusly - plushes, toys and the like.magnusr wrote:Interesting. So that's how they were distributed (or at least one of the ways). The actual mac & cheese box has the preview of the Pre-Nintendo comics. Should I add to the list of things to collec?magnusr wrote:Cool, thanks for the info.Chiclo wrote:I just remember there were ads on the back of the box.
