I'm also pretty sure, that a great majority of them were recalled by VEI. So they have most likely been pulped. I am not sure about this, just conjecture .

I was also wondering about Unity #2, #3, & #5 B&Ws 1:100s, they are hard to find and really hard to find in good conditionnycjadie wrote:Shadowman Black might be a contender on this list, as might Unity 2 and 5 (whatever the most limited versions are, maybe 1:125).

It's trade a Unity gold for either Shadowman or Ninjak.

I have both the Unity #2 & #3 (Braithwraite 1:200 Sketch Variants) but have not submitted them yet since I suspect they would grade 9.4 or 9.6.
I sold my Unity #5 (Suayan 1:100 Sketch Variant) which would not have graded 9.8 IMO.
Waiting on a copy of Unity #5 (Suayan 1:100 Sketch Variant) to arrive so that I can inspect for grading potential, and then will (likely) attempt all three books in whatever grades are given. So far (other than nycjadie's 9.8) I have not seen many solid NM+/M candidates.

I think it was me who took that Unity #5 off of your hands. It may not grade 9.8 but it still looked pretty and I was happy to take it off of your hands!DirtbagSailor wrote:This.jaden_sai wrote:I was also wondering about Unity #2, #3, & #5 B&Ws 1:100s, they are hard to find and really hard to find in good condition

Oddly, it has not been easy finding any other copies. Lol, it's actually possibly that in the end, your copy will be the cleanest copy!JCP wrote:I think it was me who took that Unity #5 off of your hands. It may not grade 9.8 but it still looked pretty and I was happy to take it off of your hands!

Guilty! It's one of my great slabs. I got lucky on that one. I've been far less lucky on so many other books.

Re: Most desired VEI Variant
I have managed to track down all of those on the list over the past few months with the exception of Shadowman #1 Gold, so that has been the most elusive for me. I also think the Shadowman black retailer preview (or whatever it's called) should go on the list, although a few of them have been showing up on eBay of late (but all seem to have various flaws that will keep them from being 9.8 if submitted). I think Unity #5 Suayan B&W is also very tough and is very desirable because it's such a great cover. And EW #5 Mack rarely seems to show up anywhere and it's also a wonderful cover. And the Larosa Divinity #1 is key because it's the first appearance of a new character that has generated a lot of buzz, and who could become a big player in the VEI universe going forward.

Unity #1 GOLD is a tough pull, for sure; but trust me when I tell you, the Shadowman #1 GOLD is definitely more scarce. Definitely.nycjadie wrote:Unity Gold is harder to find than Shadowman gold. It's always been the toughest, in my experience.

Census shows only four 9.8 copies of Shadowman #1 GOLD, as compared to almost twice that many of Unity #1 GOLD (seven, to be specific).
And I personally garnered three of the Shadowman #1 GOLDs, and four of the Unity #1 GOLDs, so there's that, too.

Looking at the list:
The Kotaki error in CGC 9.8 is a tough pull.
Most desired?
In the near future, perhaps the Harbinger Wars #1 (Zircher 1:50) in CGC 9.8 will be the most desired.

Re: Most desired VEI Variant
I got a gold book for wearing a Valiant shirt down at a con in Miami ... they had several Shadowman golds in the box along with a bunch of other gold books. I went with a Harbinger gold since it's my favorite book. But then I got another book for going to the panel so I went with an X-O 0 gold. Also, my son came along so ...
I wonder what the print run is on all these books. Does it vary from gold to gold?
