I'm guessing, Rico meant, this (standard production ?) crease could be allowed as the ONLY FLAW for CGC'd 9.8, 'if they don't think that its to much by itself...that particular day.'Valiant OCD wrote:That kind of flaw is allowed for a 9.8? Actually, a better question would be: Rico, does any of you Harbringer 0 Pinks 9.8 (since you seem to own all of them

Yea that is exactly what I meant. Everyone KNOWS my grammar bites.

That is why, imo, that the possibility of a Harbinger 0 pink CGC 9.9 or 10 is out of the question. The type of paper/card stock used on that book allowed for the books to stay in pretty great shape. I have some that look mint...except for the slight crease. CGC (for a 9.8) allows for one minute flaw, hence the less than mint grade. EVEYTHING else however has to be mint...
Yep...EVERY SINGLE ONE has that crease.(mine) However, on some issues it is more defined. On the graded ones, I'd have to say CGC is very, very consistent. The 9.6's had one other slight flaw barely visible. The 9.8's are absolutley mint minus the crease.
I still have 4-5 more to send in for as 9.8 candidates...the rest are 9.6 or lower... and yep...they all have it as well.
I would be curious if anyone out there has one that doesn't have the crease.

I have received 9.8s both with and without the upper left corner indent. Of the 25-30+ pinks I've had, 80-90% have had that ding.Ricomortis wrote:Chuck...Chuck wrote:I'm guessing, Rico meant, this (standard production ?) crease could be allowed as the ONLY FLAW for CGC'd 9.8, 'if they don't think that its to much by itself...that particular day.'Valiant OCD wrote:That kind of flaw is allowed for a 9.8? You and Rico make me sick with jealousy.
Quite an impressive assembly. You really should spread them out and distribute them to others for safe-keeping. It would be a shame for all of them to be lost together.

CKB...
I take it on those... 15 magnus 0's you have already pre-screened... for 9.8 or even 9.6? Otherwise I am assuming you would have sent them in by now.
Same of the Harby pinks?
If the answer is no... then PM me.
VERY VERY nice picture... if I do say so myself.

I've successfully sold nearly all the output of submitting those to CGC over the last year. One of each of what I have left is listed in my store. I'm down to 9.6s on both. I just sold a 9.4 Magnus out of band to a board member this week.
I've found that my store sales really go under the radar. Since they are not actively tracked, and I relist as soon as one sells, no one thinks I'm selling anything....

what are the chances of someone in the know (CKB or RICO probably)posting a pic of this left corner ding?
I have two copies of Harby pink I feel could make the 9.8 grade. One has a tiny crese/dent in the upper left hand corner. The other has no dent or findable flaw with the exception of a bindery error. The cover sems to be the tiniest bit askew, as the black of the back cover wraps around to the front by less than a 16th of an inch. Does CGC consider this a flaw?
To clarify, the staples are in the black portion of the cover not the pink as is normal.

I would send both of those in. Shouldn't make much of a difference between 9.8/9.6.Valiant OCD wrote:what are the chances of someone in the know (CKB or RICO probably)posting a pic of this left corner ding?

I highly doubt any picture would even show the dent in the comic. You have to hold the comic at an angle in the light to notice it in the first place.

Like CKB stated...I'd send both of them in. If you want to sell if it comes back a 9.6... you should be able to get your $ back from it.
I have one graded 9.6 that has the black wrap-around like you described. If I remember correctly there wasn't anything else wrong except for the dent. I am not sure if they consider that a flaw or not. I have some ASM and UXM to send in that do that... and other than the wrap-around...they are 9.8. I guess that will def. tell me what we both want to know.

Do you guys buy these individually over time or is this something you found together in another collectors collection or store stock? It's awefully pretty to look at!

Zeph...
Please do... I would love to see more pictures of collections like these by you guys. Seems to make it more enjoyable, at least for me, to SEE some things instead of just read about them.
Besides...how many do you have? 40?

I got most of the hoard above in one massive $1500 deal. The story I got was that they were from a collection of a former comic book store employee. In 1994-5, when the store was having real trouble, they stopped paying the employees and went OOB. With the employees not getting paid, stuff walked....whetteon wrote:Do you guys buy these individually over time or is this something you found together in another collectors collection or store stock? Sadly, Harby #1 isn't the book it once was. Where it was once the second most valuable Valiant of all, now, it's something in the neighborhood of 20th or so.

Well, comparing Harbinger #1 to EVERY other Valiant isn't really fair...
since the books ranked "ahead" of it in terms of price aren't regular issues.
For a somewhat "fair" ranking of Valiant books (according to what kind of books they are),
