How much would you pay for a Hulk 181 with no Marvel Stamp?

Everything else comic-related that's not VALIANT-related.

I'll give you $2. :hope:

I wouldn't have asked if I did. The reason I ask is that you're still giving them the complete original comic. It's just coming from two different sources. Does that really change its worth? I guess if CGC can catch it, then yes, it affects its worth and is therefore unethical, so the point is moot.

It would be a 'married' book, not restored. CGC gives it a green label rather than a blue one. Purple labels are used for restored books.

There is a significant price difference, so you have an obligation to tell people what they're buying. There are some infamous dealers that are notorious for passing these types of books off.

I think that would get a PLOD for sure..disassembling a book and putting it back together...PLOD for sure...how is replace an entire wrap not restoration...

Incidentally, when inspecting a potential purchase, how can you tell if it's been married?
Nothing dishonest or unethical about it either as long as everything is disclosed...lots of people married coverwraps to coverless books and I dont think anyone is unethical because they do it. If you tried to sell it as unrestored then yeah, unethical.

No, it gets a green Qualified label, not purple Restored.

First hand experience here, I had a nice Marvel Mystery Comics 51 missing its centerfold, I bought a coverless copy of the same book. I took the centerfold from the coverless and put it together with the nice copy. Bent those staples open and inserted the page in and closed them up. Sent it in to CGC and got a 5.0 Qualified green label back with a notation, 'married centerfold' on the label.

doesnt seem right to me..GLOD goes to books that would be better off without the defect...writing on the cover, a missing stamp, or things along that line. You book would have been in wrose shape had you not replaced a wrap. So basically CGC said that had you not replaced that missing page the book would have gotten a 5.0. Is that possible?

No, without the centerfold the CGC grade would have been .5 Poor - Incomplete, not 5.0.

I think the reason books with married parts aren't considered restored is that it's still all original, just from two different books that have been married together. So they give it a Qualified grade rather than Restored.

Cool and my problem isnt with you as much as it is with CGC...Just seems like it doesnt tell the whole story...I guess buy the book not the label. :thumb:
