So X-Factor #148 is the last book I need for a full run of that series. It's been one of those 10-years in the making things where I build series basically as I find issues dirt cheap and through patience. With that said, I got sick of looking at the issue on my want list and never finding it in the bins at all, so I looked on eBay for it. What the heck is with the pricing here?

Not too bad. Looks like you can pick it up for around 7 bucks plus shipping. Not cheap, but not outrageous.
Have you been reading them as you put the set together, or are you going to read it in it's entirety when you finish the set?

I basically read 'em as I build a set when I have time. Otherwise they just sit in my collection. I've done this with Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers West Coast, Green Lantern vol. 3, Nova, Dark Minds, Savage Dragon, Hunter Killer, all of the Dark Horse CGW stuff as well as Ultraverse, Green Hornet, X-Force, Silver Surfer v3, and ummm... a few others. :)

Some of these have been like 13 year builds, lol! I don't even care, I only buy 'em when they are cheap or when I'm down to a book or two and I feel like spending the couple bucks on the back issue. Unless it's a key. For example, I had most of the key X-Factor books going into that one sooo....

Well, I caved and bought that X-Factor issue I needed out of the bins (the one that was priced high in the listings on the last page). 3 bucks. LOL! Finally completed my X-Factor run. I think I stated building it officially probably in 2000. Seriously. Although I bought several of the keys from that run maybe back in like 93. That's a slow build for ya right there.

Preacher # 1 is predictably going crazy. I have 2 copies of # 1, would you sell now or later?

I'll give you the advice that I rarely take myself - sell them now while the market is on fire for it. I do this with most stuff, but not my actual comic books for some reason. I just like having that collection full of all of the hot books, but it kills your wallet because then you are essentially hoarding instead of trading.

I do follow and respond to markets in the hobby for stuff other than the actual books though.

I have a Preacher Preview in CGC 9.8 that I was thinking up on ebay with my graded 1 cgc 9.4 and the rest of the raw run. What do you think a good price would be?

There's a certain newer Image book that I'm keeping my eye on which is showing some of the signs of possibly becoming a hot book. Signs - only a few issues out and none are going unsold on eBay and usually selling a bit above cover, wasn't an over ordered book like East of West, wasn't done by known name guys and the story has great potential to be optioned. I went to three shops (two of which usually order first issues adequately enough to stay on the shelves for a few months) and no issues there.

Winner, winner. Chicken dinner!

I don't know if it's going to blow up, but it probably has the best potential of newer books. A Story about the Lewis and Clark mission involving monsters? Awesome! And it's well ex scutes thus far.

What are your thoughts on Black Science #1 from Image? I have checked a few stores and nobody has a copy available. I did order a DCBS version and I was able to track down #2 and order #3 beyond.

Thanks,

I flipped it at the shop, but didn't buy it. I only spec on books that I read that grab my attention. Pretty sure there were about 40k printed which puts it in the EoW range so it's probably not a book that I'd mess with.

From my side of the table I see plenty of heat on EoW.
I've sold a good amount of EoW.
But I'm biased, I love that book.

I do find the premise interesting - enjoyed the first issue and have #2 sitting here on my read pile. The historical context is a nice touch, Lewis and Clark's expedition is a perfect setting for sci-fi exposition as they journeyed into the unknown. Anxious to see where the writer takes this...

It's a great book, no doubt. But the regular first print can still be had for $5 easily. Slabbed 9.8s are only $40. There were just too many printed and speculated upon at this pont. Whereas Saga has increased its monthly sales by half of #1 or more, EoW is still selling only at 2/3 of its first issue print.

With all that being said, I'm holding on to my copies of the first issue.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this book this year.
The last few shows I did, it was one of the most Asked about modern books.

Lots of these books are in not good to poor condition. It is for sure an easy triple figure book.
I had a one that was fine maybe, that I sold for a good price in Aug at a show.
This "could" be a top 10- top 5 back issue book from "this time period" for comics.
