I see a few of you need the 'Origins' book, whats it worth? :hm:
If you want to sell it... sell it. If not, put it in your box. Someone might buy it but you wont find us driving the price up on each other.

I don't think he was wanting to start a bidding war.

Squirrel got a hold of me earlier tonight and was asking about those 2 books. I couldn't tell him anything about value or print runs and recommended asking Knightt.

I think he wants to know how good of a deal he got, not how much he can get out of someone for it. Probably so he can compare it's worth in trades... with me.

To be honest, I don't think there really is much of an established value for any of the Ultraverse variant books. If someone needs it, they might be willing to pay $5-$10 for it, but other than that, they don't have much value. I don't look to acquire duplicates of these books like I would with VALIANT Golds and such.

Well it doesnt come across like like... case in point
Squirrel wrote:I see a few of you need the 'Origins' book, whats it worth? :hm:
If you want to know a books value, just ask it. Don't tease. As has been seen MANY times before in this section, we are MORE than happy to answer direct questions, more like "Hey guys, I picked up 'Booger-Man Ultra 2.5' for $3.00 today in a clearance bin... is that a good price ?' And then if the person puts it up for sale the just do it.

I have a Booger-Man Ultra 2.5 that I picked up today if anyone needs one... PM me. Its not like selling snake oil here in the Dead Universes section. We are a tight nit kind of family here in the DU. We gather at one of our houses EVERY holiday and force our wives to cook for the lot of us, come over get drunk, trash the place a bit and talk a whole lot of shi... no wait... thats MY in-laws. Never mind

True dat Bro J... the books are a DEAD UNIVERSE, we dont/wont pay much for one. What was it that depluto said over on 'the almighty, I am the life of the party whats-his-f@cks' board ? Its the Ultraverse... its dead... its cheap... its OURS.

It's pretty cool that a few of us were able to quietly and cooperatively snag a pretty good run of the hard to find issues. There's a lot to be said for working together!

You are absolutely right depluto. It is great being among a small group of people (that I think is getting larger) that work together to accomplish OTHER'S goals and help them complete their collections. If this had not been a team effort, I am sure the many of us would still have huge holes on our collections even on the common runs. The HTF books are a similiar story because once someone has a dupe of a certain book it is then offered to another member who doesnt have that book and sent to them either at cost OR (and I have seen this one more than the aforementioned) sent to them free of charge for purposes of just helping someone complete their collection. HAVING the books for us I believe is secondary... it is the HUNT that drives us. Hell, there may be a book here and there that I may never get around to opening but it took me three years to find it !!!

I think it is all about the hunt and friendship here within the DU section. I am proud of it and especially thankful to Greg for allowing this to happen. I hope that this is a place where people can come to and find the information that they need or end up getting a book that they need for their collection... and even better I believe is to have someone come here with a NEW item. We seem to find variants and new items quite often in the DU section. And this is just adding to the ever growing database and circle of friends. I think that I find myself posting in here more than the Valiant section. The amount of Valiant information is VAST unto itself but IMO, the information is almost complete... perhaps a few new pieces of info pop up here and there but in here.... wow. I love finding 'new stuff' Ultraverse is whacky like that as they seemed to make variant without ANY notice and even to the point of never saying anything about it. Like when I discovered the variant to Mantra #13... I looked at it and thought 'what the' and the variants still keep coming in.

I think that I have a hidden fetish in the DUs as well.... and that fetish is promo items. Anything from posters to pins to watches, I mean you name it. Soem wild stuff has popped up here and there (still waiting on the Prime watch link there depluto !!! tap tap tap :) ). But I really enjoy finding new promo stuff... now Defiant has some of THE hardest promo stuff to find IMO AND just items in general. Case in point, the Mule vs Chasm card tin. Impossible to find and I have only EVER seen just ONE in my life and now all of a sudden we find THIS:

http://cgi.ebay.com/DARK-DOMINION-MULE- ... dZViewItem

Now I have SIX of these when I thought that I would NEVER have one. Same thing when we found that 3rd edition Plasm card binder. depluto found one on Ebay and I think that the guy had enough for everyone and we all scored big.

And we do all of this... together.

OK OK, I am done with the Dead Universe flag waving... for now.

Thank a $hit load Chiclo, THAT was exactly what I meant. I was far from wanting a 'bidding war'. I had no clue what it was worth. I just was trying to see if it was a hard to find book since I noticed a bunch of you avid Ultraverse collectors needed it.

I'm a sorta Ultraverse collector, but I only followed a few titles, not the complete universe....YET!

So in closing.....in no shhape or form did I mean to come across as I was looking for a bidding war on said book, Just an idea if I found a gem in the 50 cent box!! :thumb:

Is it even worth going up against corvettejim? Does anyone else want/need one?

I'd like to have one, but Jim's a good guy, I'd hate to bid against him. I bet he already has it, though!

I recognize the name, but don't know who he is. If you wouldn't bid against him, I won't either!

I only know him from Defiant1's board, he's probably the biggest Defiant fan out there. Knightt knows him personally, I believe. There is six of them in this auction, maybe Jim would be willing to move one, not sure.

Like I mentioned, I bet he already has a bunch of these, so if you wanted to bid on these, MagnusRF, I don't think anyone would be upset about it.

You should really stop mumbling, it's starting to bum me out. 8-)

I must have totally misread:
Squirrel wrote:I see a few of you need the 'Origins' book, whats it worth? :hm:
Somehow I took it to mean, I have one of these now and I have noticed quite a few of you guys need this for your collections and in wondering 'whats it worth', again I somehow took it to mean 'I am open to offers'.

I never did get a PM or anything in reference to this book, Chiclo.

In regards to this, you guys know me... I was probably drunk or something, right ?

I'm glad this was cleared up. And for the record, ANY book you get for $.50 cents and you need it for YOUR collection is a good deal. :thumb:

He mentioned he would be willing to sell one, I wonder what a fair price would be? I probably won't buy one right now, nowhere to put it with the move coming (hopefully soon! :hope: )

I got my tins today and they're in great shape! I'm moving us to another thread though, so as to stop hijacking this one.

We can continue here.
