It's very good and a great (and sadly unintended) tribute to one of comics greatest creators.

Since it's an hour away from home, I haven't been able to find enough free time lately to go to my LCS since mid-May. So quite a few comics to get today.

Superman #20
Flash #20
Uncanny Avengers #8AU

A cool feature about my LCS is their website, from which I can modify/change my pull list at any time. During the intervening months, I decided to drop these titles but since they had already pulled these issues for me, I was obligated to buy them. I'm still deciding whether to follow UA in trade or not. I do think it's the best Avengers title at the moment.

Daredevil #26
Daredevil #27
Daredevil #28
Daredevil Dark Nights #1
Daredevil Dark Nights #2

I'm a longtime DD fan and think Waid has done a phenomenal job on the new DD title. Chris Samnee's art has been great as well. So, it's nice to have quite a chunk of Matt to read.

Harbinger Wars #1
Harbinger Wars #2
Harbinger Wars #3
Harbinger #13
Bloodshot #12
Quantum and Woody #1
A + A #10
Shadowman #8
X-O Manowar #14

I was debating getting all the HW tie-in issues of Harbinger and Bloodshot, but then I wouldn't have enough money left for the other titles so I went for buying the latest issue of all VEI titles. I was lucky enough to get the 8-bit variant covers for Harbinger, Bloodshot, A + A, and X-O. They had both versions of Quantum so I went with the Pullbox variant.

To start with, I had put X-O Manowar on my pull list for I wanted to read the appearance of Gilad too. But apparently I missed the cut-off date for pulling #15 for they had sold out of it! So I have it on back-order. :thumb:

After watching many overpriced copies sell over the past years, mostly unslabbed, I was finally able to score one of my favorite parody covers from the 90's...and at a fair price, too!

I've been finding some interesting stuff lately in bargain bins and dollar boxes at con. Most of it is mid grade, but still worth it for the price. Here is some of the stuff I've found:

The tick 1
Liberty meadows 1
Iron fist 1 low grade
Star wars 1 low grade
ASM 430, 431, 432 wanted, 601, 606, 607, 654.1
Multiple mcfarlanes
Destroyer duck 1
Solar 10
A&a 0 gold
Magnus 12

Also picked another invincible 1 for $30. It's an 8.5, maybe 9.0. Looked better in the bag but those cardstockish take a beating. Still worth it.

My recent luck w/bargains on low grade or coverless golden age superheroes continues. My latest are coverless but complete copies of Detective 43 and Batman 24, also coverless but incomplete copies of Action 31 and Flash Comics 29....

I spent a couple hours last night going through every comic book in a half-price books store. I pulled some later first series issues for a Fantastic Four run I'm putting together for about a buck apiece.
I haven't decided exactly what I'm shooting for as far as the FF run goes, but it might be something like 300-416.

I swung by a comic-con type event (not an official con, but close), only because it actually had some decent dealer stocks....I did manage to snag Solar 8 and 9 out of the dollar box. There were actually two dealers with a pretty big selection of dollar books, and if I had more time and knew a bit more about comics I would have grabbed some. That same dealer had a bunch of marvel books, all the popular titles and I'm sure there's issues in the late 90s/20s that are worth grabbing for a buck, I just have no clue!

I did grab a lower grade Day Men #1 first print for $10, only because I would pay that in shipping alone to get it elsewhere...

CyberStrike, what's your take on Rat Queens? I was hoping for some good fantasy, but I think I just don't like Wiebe's writing style (I can't get into Peter Panzerfaust either but both seem like something I'd love). Of course, I've only read the first issue of Rat Queens.

Also, is that Serenity book a new series? Is about Wash (based on the title)? :hope:

How much of peter panzerfaust did you read? The writing style is a bit airy, but it fits the story.

Rat queens - I've only read the first three issues and the genre is not my thing at all, but it's funny as heck.

I generally like his writing style.

I'm gonna give Rat Queens a few more issues, but I think I just don't like the writer.

Rat Queens is a fantasy/humor book that takes the male fantasy-based group of characters and makes them all female and it's really funny. I like books about female characters (or have interesting female characters in them) the story is pretty good the art is hit-and-miss when dealing with the Rat Queens various heights and weights and the scale of the monsters. It's worth a look.

Yes Serenity: Leaves on the Wind is a new six-issue mini-series that takes place after the events of the movie and so Wash is dead and I believe Zoe is pregnant.
