I picked up some Piranha Tpbs from Comic Relief in Berkeley, CA today. (Rory Root's store which he left to his manager.)

They had a sale this weekend and I picked them up for $1 each.

Also picked up some Valiant bluebird Tpbs for $1 each as well.

Finally got this for Drift for £1.00 today.

He also just sorted me out with a massive amount of VALIANT books, both VH1 and VH2. I am now one short of a pre-Unity set (Magnus # 2) and must be close to completing a reading set thanks to him.

Brave and the Bold #28 is a Silver Age key issue.

First appearance of the Justice League of America (1960).

First appearance of a superhero team that is older than the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, etc.

Marvel didn't really get started until the next year after this book...
some might say they "copied" the whole superhero team
concept from this D.C. book.

Notice how the cover of Fantastic Four #1 is similar...
a team of heroes battling together against a giant monster
grabbing at them (even in the same position on the page).

Good condition (2.0) is at $400+ in Overstreet.

Meanwhile, Fantastic Four #1 is worth $1,000 in Good.

Seems like the D.C. original should be worth more than the Marvel rip-off, right?

I'm still in a little shock over this find.....The dealer has several DC keys, Detective 225, GL 1, Lois Lane 1, JLA 1, Action 252, Flash 110, 1st Legion app. Adv 247(?), all ranging from Fair to G/VG and all priced from $110 to several hundred.

He also has a couple boxes of common DC period books in similar grade. I found this while rummaging thru the commons; maybe they mistook it for a JLA 28.

I actually overlooked the book a month before when I was in a hurry, but had more time now and out it jumped! I tried to outwardly remain calm, placed it on my stack and paid over the money.

It does sound like perhaps one person's mistake has become your find of the year. Awesome deal for you
