I was lucky enough to see a few board members there.
I talked with Zach (Daydreams), Craig (Delamorte), & Mr V.
The one bad thing to come out of this weekend was a project I was going to try to get some signatures for... Craig's already making fun of me for this one.
I aquired 50 copies of Deadside 1 to do the 2nd ASH. I was going to get Ashley Wood (inker/penciler/colorist) & Paul Jenkins (writer) to sign them on-site so I could keep costs pretty low. Problem was that Paul Jenkins was darn near unapproachable for me due to all the Civil War stuff he's been doing lately. Problem #2 was that Ashley Wood wasn't at Chicago. Instead it turned out to be Ashley Woods, an Asian, female, anime artist.
Who knew?
So, I'll put that on the back burner & try it again another time...
Sorry to use up so much bandwidth, but I've been anxious to share ever since I got back Sunday evening! Cheers, ~Pete

0, that is a sweet hook up... very, very cool pull of those books.Zero wrote:I found a guy there that had a bunch of early VALIANT books. I bought 72 from him for a little less than $1.50 each. All were bagged & boarded. All were at least VF with many being NM. They were:
Solar - 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 8, 8, 9
X-O - 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6
Shadowman - 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3
Rai - 1, 1, 5, 9 gold
Harbinger - 7
Vintage Magnus - 1, 2, 3, 4
Magnus - 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 10, 11, 11, 11, 13, 13, 14, 14, 14 (1-8 all have cards & coupons)
I also bought around 50-75 misc dealer incentive & DF books from the '90s all for $1.00 from different dealers.
To be continued...
I can't even imagine what that many early VALIANTS even look like!

It's a little different depending if you get on-site grading at a convention or if you mail your books in.
At conventions they typically only grade modern books. It costs $22.00 per book. Pros - no shipping & instant gratification. Cons - it's more expensive per book than mailing them in.
Mailing modern books to CGC to be graded costs $15.00 per book. Pros - cheaper per book than on-site & they also accept discount programs (usually 20% off grading costs from Heritage/your local comic shop/etc) that lower grading costs even further. Cons - usually takes a long time to get your books back. Also costs $ to ship the books.
Hope that helps... ~Pete
