Exactly what led my mind down that path, I do believe...Daniel Jackson wrote:Well, I guess this is one rare case where both could apply.....slym2none wrote:I swear, I scanned your message and saw the word "excrement" at first.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

god I'm glad they are finally in school...
twins are cool.....

(execpt when they are young and run in the oppsite direction and I'm by myself..... [they love that game]

(BTW.... at the end of the pregancy..... my wife was sooooo big.... she almost didn't look human.... I kept thinking she was gonna tip over....)
Well it was quite the evening. As I have PMed a few... I have never held in my hands a copy of Spider-Man #1, Fantastic Four #1 or Avengers #1... until last night. As a matter of fact, this guy has EVERY old Marvel comic with the exception of three Tales of Suspense issues. THIS was the stuff I was talking about. This collection was simply amazing and to think of those SM, FF and Avengers issues, just sitting there, getting to hold them. It was incredible.
I sorted through about 18 boxes of kind of sorted stuff which held the books that I like to collect, mostly Dead Universes. The Valiant stuff was sorted by alphabet which I took to be a bad sign.... turns out I was able to pull:
Acclaim Reader
Eternal Warriors #1 painted cover
Eternal Warriors Digital
Shadowman vol 3
1
2 (Good, Bad, Very ugly variant)
3
4
5
6
Mutant Chronicles #1 (golgotha) (anybody got a price on that one ?)
Malibu Signature Series #1
Metaphysique ashcan
ALL for a $1.00 a piece !!!!
There was a Magnus #1 and a Solar #1 but I was not sure that I would get a $1.00 a book deal on those (or I would have picked them up) so I passed and if I visit him again, I will then pick them up. But no golds or CEARs, or VVSSs. Kinda bummed on that but very pleased with the Shadowman vol 3 and Acclaim Reader books. I will probably Ebay these off or something.

Only book I really 'needed' was the Eternal Warriors Digital Alchemy issue and to replace the ashcan because I didnt want to raise suspicion.
I was shocked when the guy said, 'oh hell... buck a book.' I even acted contemplative and thought about offering $.75 a book but figured this was well worth the guy's time.

Come on, Chris, you should have given the guy $30 for the GBU. And you should have given it to him after he offered them at $1. Karma, you know?Knightt wrote:Only book I really 'needed' was the Eternal Warriors Digital Alchemy issue and to replace the ashcan because I didnt want to raise suspicion.![]()

It's one thing to do that to a dealer at a show or store - they should know better - but not to someone who let you pick through his personal stuff.
I know, he's got multi-thousand dollar keys...what does it matter to him - probably nothing, even more reason not to take advantage. That's the kind of person you want to foster trust with.
All IMO, I know this is the norm I'm just not comfortable with it. Not trying to give a ethics lesson but "SCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOORE" does not exactly say much for us, does it?
