the cover is supposed to be by sean chen.
Awesome! I wonder when we'll get to see it? A little less than a month until the previews is up for the solicitation... (which doesn't really require a cover shot, but I'd think it would really help!)
Awesome! I'm trying to get some of the noobs over at CCL interested in Valiant. You just gave my my first signature piece (outside of my borrowed X-O avatar and my constant rumblings about 'the good ole days')

Shadowman or Rai would be on deck and Rai would rely rather heavily on Magnus for not having a license.

So we don't actually know yet whether or not VEI has the rights to do Magnus and Solar (and I've heard Turok brought up in this sense as well)? Maybe this is something we'll find out when the new website launches. Valiant just wouldn't be the same without Magnus and Solar (and Turok to a much lesser degree).
While I love XO and wouldn't mind seeing it first as a solo title, I wonder if the market can sustain multiple titles, even if they're Valiant. Keep thinking maybe they could start with an ensemble piece ala New Universal where you are telling multiple characters stories and weaving them together at least for a little while. And if ya wanna be real nasty, you just say Mothergod tricked everybody and shoved all the heroes into something like the cincture wormhole that she trapped Solar in during Unity. Something with the same effect, but less drastic so you don't notice it as much. Let them think that they won the fight against her then went back to their times and lived out their lives which just kept getting worse and worse (ala post-Shooter, then Acclaim, then VH2). So the relaunch could be someone finally figuring this out and breaking themselves and the others free and ACTUALLY beating Pierce finally. Crazy, I know. Just something that's bounced around in my head for a few days. Not to mention how reviled the whole "it was all a dream" excuse is. Sorry to blather.
It's a ashame the credits are so incomplete on X-O. Englehart did a good bit of writing on issues 1, 3 and 4. Joe Q and BWS only drew one issue a piece (Mike Leeke provided the incredible artwork for a good many of those other issues).
.
I've posted details of this and the VEI win on the ENworld.org messageboards in their Media Lounge section. (A place for D&D fans like this place is for Valiant fans!)
