Yeah... there were two ladies, weren't there?greg wrote:Noriko Harada (his wife) was in the Harbinger HC.etos45 wrote:I was thinking it was the lady in the story that came with the HC. (I'm assuming Harada killed the meditating monk.)

The other person was "Madame Rowena", but I don't think she was of Asian descent.

I was thinking of Madame Rowena, but I thought she was Asian. Maybe I need to re-read that story. I'm just going on the assumption that that part of the story is happening in the past so the lady would be too old to be Harada's wife. I guess I'll just have to read this comic to find out... shucks!

Harada's wife was 5 years older than him. His wife would be only slightly older than him if he was the one who killed the monk.etos45 wrote: I'm just going on the assumption that that part of the story is happening in the past so the lady would be too old to be Harada's wife.

Really like the choice for writer again, art looks great too!

"The idea of really getting a chance to dig in and build an epic mythology populated by a fully-realized cast of characters, all centered around Jim Shooter and David Lapham's original premise, is super-exhilarating to me," says Dysart. "I've been looking for a book to write that could be dark, weird, trippy, fun, real, unreal, violent and thematically ambitious. All the things I look for in fantastic fiction myself. Harbinger is that book, so I'm pretty damn excited about it."

Re: HARBINGER ANNOUNCED!!!!!

Well based on this panel I'm going to guess that she will be part of the Harbinger team. Someone we haven't been introduced yet. It looks like she is using her mind to get this army to attack each other. I'm sure the folks at Valiant aren't going to do an exact copy of the original book and will introduce some new characters to the team as well as maybe even getting rid of some old characters from the team as well. Just a guess.

That's what I think.
Was there any other mind controllers besides Pete and Toyo in the old book?
(How cool is it that I can say "old book")

There was a "hint" that "things" might be different. But I did not expect that. Maybe a change of ethnicity.
Toyo is a chick. So is it Toya?

No, Toyo is still a guy.Elveen wrote:Toyo is a chick. So is it Toya?
We only have a few forward-facing panels and I think the combination of the furry hood/hat and shadows on the chest
are making the 18-year-old guy look like Asian Bieber.
Here's a similar guy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T.O.P_%28entertainer%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It probably won't even be questioned in the full book.
Re: HARBINGER ANNOUNCED!!!!!
Well Toyo looks like a woman!
But that Tumblr image from a while back definitely has him as a man. Not sure which to believe. The more I stare at the face alone and not the outfit, I can see where it might be a man.
Caption to that photo for those without Facebook
"An 18 year-old Harada Toyo stands before the world's greatest living pre-cog, The Bleeding Man."

Re: HARBINGER ANNOUNCED!!!!!
The artist just confirmed he is male. In regards to the quote above where he refers to him as Harada Toyo he says "In modern Japanese usage a name usually consists of the family name (surname) and is then followed by a given name. Harada is the family. Toyo is the man. In the West he would be Toyo Harada. In the East he would be Harada Toyo."

Re: HARBINGER ANNOUNCED!!!!!
I love the detail in the images. If the stories match the artwork, and given Dysart's track record, they could easily surpass this, then we are looking towards have what looks like another home run.Crow331 wrote:Well Toyo looks like a woman! But that Tumblr image from a while back definitely has him as a man. Wow... I think what threw me off was the grey hair. With grey hair and no major wrinkles, he does look more like a she in those panels. I guess maybe his powers make his hair like that?

Either way, still cool art and I can't wait to read this!

Who says there has to be a future timeline. The only real reason VH1 did was Magnus and there is no Magnus.

But now they have Rai and Psi-Lords in the future and they have no business in the present time. Besides, the future time line is one of the things that made Valiant interesting.dhudson1 wrote:Who says there has to be a future timeline. Re: HARBINGER ANNOUNCED!!!!!
Oh, MOTA has been posting on FB about the Toyo/girl thing and he pointed out that what I thought was hair is actually his parka... you can sort of see his hair under it. So, that answers that.

That's definitely Toyo in those panels. If he looks a bit feminine, those Asians can be tricky sometimes. This one time in Thailand.....

They also have TimeWalker and can use him in a future time if they need another character, as a matter of fact, he can be the easy "go between" for timelines.etos45 wrote:But now they have Rai and Psi-Lords in the future and they have no business in the present time.
