Re: X-O 1:50 Auctions
I had in my watchlist a seller with 6 Aja variants with $14.99 BINS. I already have one, but thought hard about taking 2-3 (buying one for me to pay shipping to Canada isn't as worthwhile for you guys), but do I really need 3-4 of these? At $15 though, they seem to be relatively cheap compared to the 1:50 variant.400yrs wrote:Watching these is fun. And I think this is a bit beyond prices rising just because of us here at vf.com.
Aja variants are strong as well.

Re: X-O 1:50 Auctions
Well can you give us some marvel or dc equivalents in print run, to give us some sort of comparative analysis? Weren't there a bunch of 1:100 ultimate variants released? I would think their would be fewer of those variants that this x-o 1:50, were they selling for more or less?400yrs wrote:greg wrote:Good point... this Aja's at $30 (shipped) with a day to go... http://www.ebay.com/itm/110873235684" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;400yrs wrote:Aja variants are strong as well.
Not sure what's special about that auction... this other one is at $24 (shipped) with 6 hours left: http://www.ebay.com/itm/350562135260" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That one's now at $130 shipped with 3.5 hours to go.greg wrote:Another 1:50 is now up to $120 shipped with 9 bids and four-and-a-half hours to go in the auction:

I think many sellers are just putting up BINs using their normal pricing conventions for Marvel and DC books. It appears that they are doint themselves an injustice.

You know I could also say the same thing in my auctions BIN item does it mean I'll get insane prices too? This superb specimen was cherry-picked from an original factory case twenty years ago and stored carefully for investment ever since, and boasts stellar eye appeal!

Ended at 152.50. Other auctions are at 91 and a new BIN is testing the waters.greg wrote:That one's now at $130 shipped with 3.5 hours to go.
Unfortunately also a signed pullbox book I had been watching is getting attention (currently at $22.49).

Now it's just getting *SQUEE*.
This one is up for $300.

I'll never get one at this rate. To be fair, it's supposed to be high grade.
But agaain, really, $300? Talk about gouging.

They're probably hoping the one at $200+ makes $300 look like a bargain by the time it's over.

Re: X-O 1:50 Auctions
I would say if you can buy a couple of the 1:20 variants for $20 or less shipped, I would recommend doing it...much better risk/reward scenario. And if you can get a few of them relatively cheap, you could trade them or sell them to use the proceeds for the 1:50 variant. The 1:50 should not be selling for 8-10 times what the 1:20 is going for, at most it should be 4 times (3 times is probably a bit more accurate, but I'll give additional leeway for the collectability premium. I employed this strategy in the equity markets, by pairing one stock against another and trading that relationship. And let me tell you if there was a way I could short the 1:50 and buy up the 1:20, I would do it with all the marbles in the world! Haha.MarrowMan wrote:Still not fair imo (who said life was fair right? lol)

I think that the 1:50 variant is going for such insane amounts due to a lot getting damaged or delayed with that Diamond truck that wrecked. I could be wrong but once the shops who qaulified to get them, price might dip a bit.

I believe that only the 1:20 was affected by the accident. It looks like the 1:50 was having a different shipping problem from what I've been reading.maraxusofkeld wrote:I think that the 1:50 variant is going for such insane amounts due to a lot getting damaged or delayed with that Diamond truck that wrecked.
