I see that in the last 2 days of sold listings, the prices vary from $49.99 to $125. Ed's was $200. There was also that crazy one for $300something.Ramses818 wrote:So this is kind of disappointing day. But what can you do? I went on eBay I bought three of them for under $50 apiece which means I spent less than I did at my LCS. Oh well on the bright side now I have six of them I guess LOL. I am a horder so it's not the end of the world.
I feel your pain.

With as many as there are for sale on ebay I wouldn't be shocked to see this book settle around $25. If it does I would probably pick one up.

I'm sure with a little patience on eBay that would be possible. Unless there is some weird revelation about regional distribution on these.FormerReader wrote:With as many as there are for sale on ebay I wouldn't be shocked to see this book settle around $25. If it does I would probably pick one up.

Wow, who woulda figured this for a $20 book?
The stores that said "eff supporting valiant, i want my money back for the 200 issues i couldn't sell" now look like geniuses.

So since my last post I bought 2 on ebay ( different seller) for 40 avg. then walked into my LCS (where I bought his 100 copies) to get one and then went to another store and bought it for 40.

Curious to see how these grade. I imagine that the cover is quite solid and stout, so 9.8's will be more common?

Re: WTB Unity #1 3-D cover (Re-Opened for others)
I bought my 45 dollar copy and went to pay on paypal when I noticed it was shipping from a town just dozen miles south of me, off the same road I'm off of. So I looked and they have a shop there. So I asked if I could just pick it up, he said sure. I just move 10 miles farther south about 4 months ago and had not looked for a new shop as my regular one was on my way home. So behold I have a new shop that is as close as my other now, and the shop is nice, I may even switch my pull list to there. Funny how things go sometimes.

Congrats on finding a new nicer store!!
on the 3d note just picked up 3 more for $50. Still waiting to hear about 2 more. I do like that they were bagged and boarded this time. All I have seen are really nice.

Re: WTB Unity #1 3-D cover (Re-Opened for others)
I was hesitant to say this because I don't want to ruffle feathers with anyone (VEI or board members) but...
For comic book sellers like Ed (Paradise), who kept all his books and believed there would be very limited quantities of this, the fact that pretty much every LCS got one regardless of whether they kept their 100 issues or not can't sit well with him.
Ed was kind enough to make these available very early to board members at $200. I declined because I just won't spend that much money on a gimmick variant (nice as it may be). But now the people that bought it from him at that price have to feel like they way overpaid, even though it was none of his doing.
Six weeks ago people were thinking "OMG if I don't order this now I'll never have a chance of getting one!" Now the market is flooded and people are getting them for $25 in some cases.
I know VEI doesn't want to aggravate their big sellers like this but this seems... I dunno...
Furthermore, shops were told that if they they kept their 100 issues, they'd receive one. Now, many if not most of them received one anyway. Doesn't that kinda undercut credibility going forward with this kind of incentive?

Re: WTB Unity #1 3-D cover (Re-Opened for others)
I think that's probably the case. I bought one from Ed, and I do feel like it was misrepresented by VEI. That being said, I'm sure they'll make it up to Ed, and Ed will make it up to be in some way. I'm not upset at Ed, but I don't feel fabulous about the price. However, I try to think I'll end up even Steven. Valiant does a lot for us mega fans, and I think it will all work out in the end.jmatt wrote:I was hesitant to say this because I don't want to ruffle feathers with anyone (VEI or board members) but...

I agree with what you said completely. VEI's fault or not, there are gonna be a lot of stores that feel like they got "burned" by VEI and will no longer support them by taking chances.jmatt wrote:I was hesitant to say this because I don't want to ruffle feathers with anyone (VEI or board members) but...

This is definitely a disappointment. Whatever went wrong I hope VEI can prevent it from happening again. We need these stores to support Valiant in the future.SJS4 wrote:I agree with what you said completely. I don't know that I buy this theory. Diamond can't be responsible for there being 5 times as many copies as people were expecting. And there are ten times as many "My LCS got one even though they didn't earn one" for every "My LCS didn't get the one they deserved."lorddunlow wrote:I really think Diamond is likely to blame for this.
For the vendors who played by the rules and kept all 100 books, VEI should just send an extra copy (and for all I know, they did).
I'd be interested to know what the total print run for it was.
