Episode 3 was really good!
http://comicbook.com/comics/2018/04/23/ ... ight-here/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The first half was a cheesy, but had a few standout dialogue bits from Armstrong, Ninjak, and Archer. I really can't stand Gilad's actor at all. I think most of the fault lies in his dialogue, however. Maybe if Armstrong made fun of him for being so uptight, it might come off a little more natural, but we're asked to take everything he's saying so seriously, that it's coming across as forced and awkward.
I really just can't see this team ever training together to boost team camaraderie. Unity's supposed to be made up of people who don't need training, and learn to get along in the heat of battle. ...imo
The Ninjak/X-O fight was SICK! I sort of wish the yellow material on X-O's costume wasn't so obviously fabric, but literally everything else was amazing.

Started off a little rough, (acting) but after the flashback scene, the fight between XO & Ninjak was pretty damn entertaining...TheFerg714 wrote:Episode 3 was really good!![]()

Ah, the smack talk! This had its funny points, but did seem a little forced. Lots and lots of testosterone! I don't know if Unity ever had those types of moments, but I guess they would need something like that in order to truly go after one another.
Fight scenes were fun, loved Bloodshot and X-O as well as X-O and Ninjak
Might be my favorite episode so far...

Re: Ninjak Vs is finally out!!
I have never watched a "web series" before. So, I really did not know what to expect other than it being low budget.
The closest form of media that I watch for comparison is Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. It may be unfair to compare this free Ninjak VS web series to a streaming media which I pay for (Netflix, etc.). What do you think?
I am assuming the budget for a Netflix series could be way more than the budget spent on the Ninjak VS web series. However, I am not really sure.
This would be my comparison to Netfix:
1) After the first 2 Ninjak VS episodes they seemed really short in comparison to Neflix. This would be the biggest difference in my opinion when comparing to Netflix. It is hard to develop or set up a story in such a short amount of time.
2) The acting for Ninjak VS did not seem as good. Acting did seem better in the 2nd episode. Once again it is hard to get a real feel for the actors and their characters in such a short amount of time. However, from what I have seen so far, I would give Netflix the edge.
3) Costumes looked great to me and equal in comparison to Netflix.
4) Special effects. I actually think Valiant also did a very good job with the special effects in comparison to Netfix. They were very good in my opinion and rivaled special effects from Netflix.
5) Fighting scenes. I thought Valiant did a nice job with these which I would say are equal to that of Netflix.
In the end it may be an unfair comparison. But I must say that I am really enjoying Ninjak VS so far. Like everyone else has mentioned...it is exciting to see the characters "come alive" for the very first time. I do believe it will be good exposure for Valiant. Especially if the fight scenes continue to be entertaining.
I can't wait to see #3 tonight!

Talking with Aaron Schoenke on FB, he stated that if we want this in DVD, email Valiant and let them know.
Don't know how that would be distributed, but that may be the only way to see them back to back to back
He also states that the series will only be on comicbook.com through the 26th. I don't know if this will get to their YouTube channel or not, as of right now, it is not.

Re: Ninjak Vs is finally out!!
Netflix shows get called "web-shows" frequently, but I personally think they don't qualify. Lately SVOD, Streaming Video On Demand, has become the more popular designation. The only difference between Netflix and HBO is their means of distribution. You can pay for a subscription to cable and get HBO on your t.v., or you pays for a subscription to Netflix and get their service on your t.v. as well as your smartphone and computer. HBO produces t.v. shows. Netflix produces S.V.O.D. shows or S.V. shows. People are still having trouble sorting out the terminology as media continues to evolve. I've seen people call web-shows "t.v. shows" even though they're not on television. They're also some grey areas. Rooster Teeth is a production company that funds its various shows through a monthly subscription service, BUT they're shows are all free to watch on Youtube. Some articles call Rooster Teeth an SVOD company, because their content is funded through subscriptions. That still change the the fact that nearly everything they make is intended to be distributed for free on Youtube. So they make web-shows with a slightly larger budget than other web-shows.Juki wrote:I have never watched a "web series" before. Web-shows are generally short form video content, usually filmed on location, and traditionally distributed for free on social media. Things like vlogs, short films, etc. Brianna Hildebrand, Negasonic from Deadpool, stared in a web-series on Youtube prior to being cast in the film.
Ninjak Vs. is a web-series made for Youtube. It belongs in the same category as other content made for Youtube.
This what the kids are watching these days.
I've officially found the actress for Animalia.
Chances are they're making some ad revenue from having it exclusively on comicbook.com for its opening week. Hopefully it gets released on Youtube as well. That's where the largest audience is as well as BatintheSun's built in audience.agent_graves wrote:Why would they not want to capitalize, off a web-series they spent money to make!?TheeBaldMoose wrote:Talking with Aaron Schoenke on FB, he stated that if we want this in DVD, email Valiant and let them know.

I get that, and I understand that it’s more about exposure, and bringing in new fans. But a dvd with all the extra goodies, (behind the scenes/deleted scenes, the making of, commentary, etc) on the shelves in Walmart next to other super hero live-action/animated/movies, that’s much needed exposure as well...SuperMage wrote:Chances are they're making some ad revenue from having it exclusively on comicbook.com for its opening week. Re: Ninjak Vs is finally out!!
I think it's been really awesome. I rhink the fight choreography is so freakin' good. I don't think the acting is bad, either. The only real problems is the CG budget was nothing and the Roku moments of watching Ninjak suck. That's really it. I feel like the yrailer was a great indicator of what you were going to get so if you saw that for the last year and thought it was gping to reach Marvel Studios-level, then you were crazy.
I worked for a film festival for 3 years and watched a lot of submitted films and pieces and saw a lot of bad films and bad acting. Ninjak Vs is miles ahead of the bad stuff I saw, some of which had money put into it.

Agreed. She's somewhere between a real villain and Dr. Evil.Joshua wrote:... the Roku moments of watching Ninjak suck.

Here's a different way to look at it. Episode 3 has X-O with weapons. That alone is worth the cost to fans... which has always been free. This isn't a DMG web series. Dinesh made this. His goal was to show the POTENTIAL of a high budget X-O movie. If X-O could be cool in a fan series... imagine what big budget could be. It's marketing. It's free. It has parts that suck, so I'm glad they were free. It has parts that rock, so I'm really glad they were free... but as a tool for the POTENTIAL of Valiant, it's supposed to suck because the goal is big budget.

Valid point. I'll admit, my reply was harsh.ShadowTuga wrote:I did not read his comment as trollish. He was actually polite, just failed the etiquette test of not posting in a thread about something you do not like, because, well, it would be one thing to be disappointed while expecting a great thing, its another when you already are biased against the thing.
We've waited months to discuss Ninjak Vs and we've waited decades to see live action. This isn't just another topic on the board. It's a big one. Posting positive or negative comments and legit criticism based on what we're seeing is fine. Posting just to say you, personally, have higher standards than the rest of us and the series never had a chance is a GTFO moment... at least as a knee jerk reaction, which it was.
So, I admit my initial reaction was harsh. Accurate, but harsh.
My bad.

After watching the 3rd episode I find that the actors kind of grow on you. Surprisingly, I think Jason David Frank playing Bloodshot is my favorite actor/character in this series followed by X-O. X-O has to be the toughest comic character to portray in this low budget series. I think Derek Theler pulls it off so far.
While some of the cheesiest moments belong to Archer and Armstrong, l do find they are showcasing some of the humor from the comics that has big screen potential. Kudos.
I can't wait for episode 4! The fight scenes are still great and things did not drop off any in episode 3. Great job so far!

I am glad to see that you guys who watched the second and third eps are happy with it.
I will watch those tomorrow, with a more open mind. Roku won't ever grow on me, I am 100% sure, but I admit I want to see X-O in a fight.
As a new fan of Valiant (I am a VEI guy, ground 0 one I may be, but VEI, so I only read Valiant for the first time in May 2012), I'm probably not getting the feeling you guys have, of course, since you have been waiting decades for something, even if it is a low-budget LA series. I am happy for you who are geeking out with this, honestly, and by no means I want BitS fans and friends feel I am trolling them here. They have awesome movies under their belt. Their Batman stuff is all very, very good, solid fan-made productions that look a lot better than some shows on TV.
So, yes, I expected a low-budget series, with funky FX and all the shortcomings of being a small money venture. That does not excuse overacting (or just plain bad acting) and/or weird editing/rhythm choices. In my humble opinion.

Re: Ninjak Vs is finally out!!
On my first viewing of Episode 1, I was unsure what to make of it. I've never watched any kind of web series, so my only reference is hundred million dollar movies.
Came back a few days later, my expectations adjusted correctly, and have to say that I'm really enjoying it. It's marvelous to finally see these characters in action.
The action sequences are terrific, and I like that they injected a little humor (Ninjak stretching and primping in the elevator, Neville's mustard, etc). The whole thing is delightful.
And while I don't wanna get in the middle of anything, please give posters the latitude to speak freely without rebuke. I can't say that I've seen anything that would qualify as trolling here.

Don't know how that would be distributed, but that may be the only way to see them back to back to back
He also states that the series will only be on comicbook.com through the 26th. I don't know if this will get to their YouTube channel or not, as of right now, it is not.
I’d think they’d want to recoup something...

My bad.

Re: Ninjak Vs is finally out!!
I finally had time to watch the first episode. I had fun watching & enjoyed it very much.
It is exactly what I expected to see - a fan made project with a much better budget than an average fan made project could ever hope to be. Its not even close to a Hollywood level of production, but the creative talent & passion behind producing this really shines through the budgetary constraints. Is the acting a bit naff in spots? Yeah, but I don't mind that at all - again, it falls within my expectations of it's intent. There are some pretty impressive props, sets & scenery in addition to the generally fantastic costume designs. The action sequences are really fun.
And our very own SonicDan's cameo was so damn cool to see!
This is [or was] going to be used as a proof-of-concept for Valiant to show that their characters can work in a live action medium, and it is also quite literally & most essentially a fan made production meant as a treat for people who are already fans, with the hope that some new people will get interested in Valiant after seeing it.
Will it really pull in a ton of new people to Valiant? I don't know - how many people know about Bat In The Sun? I think you could expect it to have reached anyone who was already aware of & follows BitS, and anyone who is already a fan of Valiant that hears word of it via forums like this one. Beyond that? Who's going to go out of their way to see it?
What I am trying to say here is that I am not criticizing whether or not its going to bring in a wave of new fans, I am saying that realistically I did not expect this thing to have a huge reach & I don't think that is a bad thing. It simply is what it is.
I think its most effective as a promotional tool used to show LA business people that we can make some truly big budget films or tv programs work - certainly, the more people view it the better in terms of also showing there is an audience for it, but just using it as part of a presentation is a much more powerful visual aide at a board meeting than showing pages of comic art.
One thing that is worrying me a bit is that some fans on Facebook are saying this thing is going to get shut-down after it airs in its entirety this week, never to be hosted online again. I hope thats not the case, that its just a bit of rumour-milling.

Re: Ninjak Vs is finally out!!
This is what I came on this morning to check on. Somebody I was discussing the series with on Discord said the same thing (That the series would only by on Comicbook.com thru Apr 26 or 27th, and that they got that info from Facebook somewhere). I don't Facebook, so I came to see if anyone else was mentioning this, had a source for it, or any more details on why exactly they would do something stupid like this.grendeljd wrote:One thing that is worrying me a bit is that some fans on Facebook are saying this thing is going to get shut-down after it airs in its entirety this week, never to be hosted online again. If it was some legal thing with Sony, then I can't imagine Sony ever letting them release it in the first place. Putting it out there for a week and then taking it down to lock it away in a 'disney vault' makes no sense. They can't be stupid enough to go through all these delays in getting it released, then take it down a week later in some effort to make it 'rare' like they did with Legends of the Geomancer, right?! If this is supposed to show off Valiant characters to potentially gather new fans for the comics, then it's got to be out there somewhere for people to see. If it's not being released onto Youtube after being exclusive on Comicbook.com (or something like that), then I'm really confused as to why they would bother making something that so few would see in such a short time.
Does anybody that dabbles in Facebook have any posts from any official sources (Valiant, DMG, B.I.T.S., or Sony I guess) about this? Or is it only being spread by individuals saying they've read it somewhere else with no sources or proof? I'd like to know so that I can know if I've got to make the time to get all these episodes in before they disappear. And I'm just curious about why this would be done this way if they are indeed doing it.
