Hopefully it's reader interest and not just speculation interest.
If Valiant had 1/10th of the speculation interest of Marvel, they'd be 3% of the market. But Readers > temporary sales boosts, to be sure.
Are you even reading the same forums as me? There's barely a thread on this forum about the content of the books themselves. Instead it's there's a lot of threads about low print runs, variant covers, and graded books. This forum is disturbingly collectivistic and nobody seems to be bothered by it. Valiant wouldn't even have the sales numbers without these gross variants. I guess I should be thanking this board but lately I'm not feeling the direction of where Valiant marketing is heading.

Sadly I think I'm on the verge of quitting Valiant books just as quickly as I began only a few months ago. I'm going see how this summer event plays out, after that I'll make my decision. I hope the actual stories can hold my interest. I might just drastically cut back on their offerings.
There are 468 topics about published issues. Considering the forum launched after VALIANT's demise, but before its rebirth as VEI, and considering there are fewer than 468 individual issues so far, that does not seem too bad in context.

A lot of the sales threads include discussion about books that members enjoy the quality of, or otherwise don't enjoy.

Leave or stay, your choice.

But to be honest, I am not so sure how empirically accurate your statement is in comparing those collector traits you cite vs. content. You may be right. Show us your data and I will agree with you.

The problem is, I think you may be looking for a fight. I say that and point it out as I am often a dissenting voice against things VEI does that I think are stupid. Equally I will praise them when I feel it is due. For all I know, most people may ignore me on this board as is their right. But to attack others for their choice of discussion on a board that has existed longer in the absence of VALIANT being published than it has in the time of VALIANT being published, well that seem to be more about your own dissatisfaction than a problem with the board itself.

We are a mixed bunch here. We don't all get along. That is cool. This place is largely civil, yet you seem to be conflating your feelings about the board with your feelings about VEI and aiming a swipe at members along the way. That leads me to ask: why? Don't like the books: read or don't read, buy or don't buy. Don't like the board: stay or leave. But the sly insult of 'disturbingly collectivistic' seems that you would like to change the agenda here. I would argue that any agenda(s) and themes of discussion have arisen from a contributing membership, but none of us, except maybe greg, should expect those agendas and themes to conform to our own individual and peculiar visions.

So stay or go, but please don't be a *SQUEE* to people along the way, thanks.

What am I most excited about? The Delinquents #3 incentive variant. Why? because the print run is so ridiculously small and the quality of these books are atrocious after Diamond mishandles them. To get a 9.8 VEI incentive variant in 9.8 is a grail item, and this is my grail of the week.

I also got a The Valiant #1 1:100 in 9.8!
That Solar 3 is SWEET! So is The Valiant 1:100.

What are some of the others?

How many did you send in?

Rico
This invoice was mostly Solar. These came in 9.8:
Solar 2-3, 7-9, 11, 16, 18-24
Unity 12 Variant
X-O 0 Convention
Valiant 1 Kindt Variant
Valiant 1 1:100
Delinquent 3 Variant

Bummed on a few VEI variants that didn't make the cut, and the Solar 1, 3-6, plus a few others. I sent 2 #3s.

Man... That there is one nice haul!

Solar 4 & 5 are a PITA to get in 9.8, at least in my experience.

289 VAL Valiant Universe Handbook (2015) 1 4,717

Divinity held steady, Bloodshot bleed over 60%, Ninjak took a slight lose, XO, Imperium, Ivar and Unity, all gained some sales, Dead Drop's debut was decent, and I thought the Hand Book did well, for a HandBook. :thumb:

Those are actually pretty good markers. The newly launched books are having the typical dropoff after the #1 issue but the rest of the books are picking up readers. A great sign.

I'm surprised to see the uptick in Unity, that was flatlining badly a few months back.

I was surprised as well, while putting that post together, I'm thinking, damn, Unity's at the bottom again, but even coming in last (not counting the Handbook) there was still a positive, in that.

How's this look? I've pulled all the info for every issue. Got it sorted by title and knocked out X-O and Harbinger like this. Still need to sort the data in a couple different ways, but a good start.

I guess you have me pegged. Well do you even know what that tweet was about? Or would you rather take out it of context just strike a hollow jab at me. That tweet was way back in 2009 and I was really into his Wildstorm stuff.

I'd appreciate people stop referring to me as a "troll". I haven't attacked anyone here personally. Although I admit I may have ridiculed some fans here, especially the collectors. I don't make personal attacks, nor do I waste my time searching for dirt on a poster. That tweet Ellis made is more a term of endearment to me now and I find it funny that it's still on the internet. It was a little joke between me and some old wildstorm posters that I no longer keep in touch with. I've got no qualms with Warren Ellis and continue to read his stuff.
