I discovered an LCS today!
So I spent my lunch break visiting my grandma at the hospital. On the way back to work, I took a route I usually don't take to get some fast food at a place I usually don't get food from. As I was leaving, I noticed a Superman symbol in the window of a shop a few doors down. As I drove by, I saw more comic booky symbols and realized what it was! I swerved in on impulse and went in real quick to browse around.
The location is HUGE, but they don't actually fill up much space there. I didn't even see any new comics - just a few boxes of back issues and a few more back issues on racks that looked designed to hold new comics. But the guy said they had only been open a month or so and there was a Previews poster in the window, so maybe the new comics will be coming. I was actually late getting back to work so I didn't really browse any, but the back issues I saw looked like mostly 70s and 80s Marvel and 90s DC. Only a handful of long boxes with old yellow ratty looking bags and few actually had boards.
It looked like a good portion of their business was in computer game tournaments. There were flyers on the wall for upcoming HALO2 tournaments.
The name of the place: "LAN-O-WAR Comics & Games." I know a big part of the name is in reference to the video game LAN tournament side of things, but I just wonder if the name is a reference to XO in any way. I'll have to ask next time I go by there.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

The LCS by my new home has like four or five VALIANTS in the .50 boxes... and they are tore up!
They got bubkiss, Nada....nothing.... nunca..... nadia....
Now my last LCS was a diferent story.... and I am heading out there this weekend for my fantasy football draft, I am going a bit early for a search and rescue mission.
Wish me luck.

LOVE finding a new LCS. The excitement! The anticipation! and then the disappointment when you realise all they've got for sale is cr@p like x-men deadly genesis quesada variant coverHeath wrote:So I spent my lunch break visiting my grandma at the hospital. Yeah, I'm still reveling in the excitement and anticipation! But I'm sure the disappointment will hit me hard tomorrow (or "today" now that it's after midnight) when I go back by and look through their meager selection of over priced, beat up, 80s/90s crap.cobra_commander wrote:LOVE finding a new LCS. Didn't MV get the boot this past week???

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I just haven't found something I've wanted to stick with yet. The Major Victory image humors me for the moment.slym2none wrote:Heath, you are going through avatars like light beers at a frat party!
Yep. And it was very emotional. I cried.slym2none wrote: Didn't MV get the boot this past week???

And tonight was the last episode. It was really too predictable. It should have been Feedback and Major Victory in the finale.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Where were these, THM?tarheelmarine wrote:Went by two LCS while visiting my parents today, and nothing of note except for a XO vol 2 #7 for a buck. IT was in great condition, even bagged and boarded, but I don't like VH2 so I passed.

The XO was at the Coin shop off Yadkin (one where the guy smokes in the store).

Like you said, they've only been there a month. Give them some time before you let the excitement fade and the disappointment set in.Heath wrote:Yeah, I'm still reveling in the excitement and anticipation! I went to a Flea Market in Eden, NC near work Sunday and a guy was selling comics for INSANE prices. He had a bunch of super-common late 90's Marvel for 3.00 a piece, almost a complete run of the War of the God's crossover and a few Valiants for $1.00 each. The only Valiant I remember was an Archer and Armstrong #10.
I asked him if he had any more Valiants and he told me he had a "First Edition of Psych-Lords".
He then proceeded to show me a copy of Psi-Lords #1 for 10.00
I handed him a dollar for a copy of Wonder Woman #60 and politely walked away.

Yea, he is still overpriced. Check this out, he had his son or grandson in the store (10-12 range) and he is just lighting them up one after another.Knightt wrote:oh man, I remember that hovel... Rent must be cheap if he isn't in a hurry to sell the books.Tim Petty wrote:I went to a Flea Market in Eden, NC near work Sunday and a guy was selling comics for INSANE prices.
