You have to look at what is available and see what piece really stands out to you . . the most important thing is that you love what you are buying . . . This is not something that is being put in a box and stored . . . these are meant to be displayed and looked at everyday . . .Jrdawg wrote:Wolverine, Spidey, Daredevil, Iron Man, Solar. It was tough to just pick 5
Solar is easy . . .
There are only 2 known statues made . . . Sean Chen's and the smaller DF statue. The bright side is that you should be able to get the DF statue for about $40 shipped . . . good luck if you want Sean's . .
Wolverine:
Here is a thread with most of the statues and busts available:
viewtopic.php?t=16751
Daredevil:
Not as much available but there are some real nice pieces:
viewtopic.php?t=16739
Spidey has a ton . . and I am working on a list . . .
Iron Man should be a little eaiser . . .
Once you pick the statue you like then, depending on what company and when it was produced, you know where to look to get the best deals . .
Sometimes Ebay is the best . . sometimes not . . . let me know if anything jumps out at you . . .

Hey, thanks Siren! I was already thinking of getting a curio case to display them. Right now, I am looking to see if there is enough stuff out there that I really like. So far, seems most of the items I really like are 1/20 and $400.00+. At this point, I wanna stay in the ballpark of $40-$150 I think.

You might want to try out the Marvel Origins line of statues . . . pretty good quality for the price:Jrdawg wrote:Hey, thanks Siren! I was already thinking of getting a curio case to display them. I feel the same way about most . . Life size busts are different though or even 1:2 scale look good the me . . . but the mini busts I like to have arms and weapons if applicable . . .Jrdawg wrote:I said earlier that I didn't like the busts but thats untrue. After browsing a little, I just don't like the bust that have no arms and such. Just looks akward to me.
Full size will always be my first choice though if I can afford it . . .
Gee how about if I finally answer this one ?siren3-4 wrote:What didn't you like about the red version ??Knightt wrote:I am not 100% pleased with my red version and plan on putting it up for sale soon.Jrdawg wrote:
I'm eyeing this one
Bad paint app ??
The look of the bust itself (IMO) looks too cartoony. I like lifelike looking statues. WHICH reminds me to take a photo of my collection to update it for you guys... my recent sales of a few of my lesser liked mini busts and one full size statue (that I got hosed on the final selling price) allowed me to pick up the full size Alex Ross version of Batman:
Looks better in person, I will photograph it tomorrow, I hope (Left 4 Dead is out tomorrow).
The cape and face on this statue is utterly amazing and I got it super cheap, $133 w/ free shipping. I couldnt pass it up.
I WILL be getting the new Wonder Man mini bust to round out my Avengers collection:
And I cannot pass up on one of the ultimate enemies of The Avengers, Super Adaptoid:
And for another MUST have full size statue, the perfect match to Captain America... The Falcon:
I am not too psyched on Sam's gloves though as they are lacking in the detail department. The gloves with the gold accents should have been use IMO.

Same here.Lightning Strike wrote:That is my favorite WM costume. A lot of fans don't like it, but I think it totally rocks!
My first Avengers comics were #159-#164, just when Graviton, The Grim Reaper and Ultron nailed the Avengers in rapid succession. Wonder Man had just returned in issue #151 and (while I never had and still don't today have #151) I thought the costume was REALLY cool back then. To me it was some of THE best art and lucky thing back then... I picked up about a short box of comics at a yard sale for $.75, and THAT was a bargain back then !!!
What I wouldn't give today to stumble on a few of those comics at $.75 for a short box !!! I am working on Avengers #1-#200, not getting very far under the #130s and below but it is nice to chase after. I picked up a TPB with Avengers #1-#5 and figured that is as close as I am ever going to get to those books.

As you all know, I loves me some statues... well today, THE grail statue that I can imagine finally showed up and I am humbled to have it in my collection:
Shows up a bit small compared to the Marvel statues.
THE X-O Manowar from Bob Layton's desk in it's new home !!!
Different angles and lighting compliment the statue in many ways.
Everyway I look at it after a MINOR cleaning, makes it look even better IMO.
I was contemplating on getting it repainted as another boardmember (the 3rd known statue ?) but I am leaving it as it is considering what I think to be a significant piece of VALIANT history. The Bob Layton signature at the bottom of it, does indeed make it special for me but just to be honored to now own this piece of history.
