I always thought the published cover didn't feel like a BWS but looking at the early one I see the BWS elements.

The early one has more detail on the wall and a cool lighting effect on the ground but the big differences that I spotted were the "xo" in the chest and the different helmet.

Which one do you guys like?

I like the lighting in the first one, although that "X-O" on his chest did need to go.

It is the same pencil and ink art but they changed the head and x-o on the chest. I like the published colors better.

I remember reading somewhere that Layton had different plans for this cover, but someone talked him into doing it simple like this with just a pot-marked wall behind him. Crap where did i read that! :!:

I like the published cover much more.. but I think the light effects on the ground of the the unpublished would have been nice on the published cover as well..

I remember that as well. I think Bob posted the original cover here or on his site. It was Shooter who shot id down for being to much like a Marvel cover.

I believe that's correct, Jim mentioned it in one of his interviews.
