New artists on Valiant relaunch?
Let's assume for an instant that none of the previous artists from Valiant's past will be on board for the relaunch. Which artists from the comic biz today would you like to see?
I'd like to see Ivan Reis, Ethan VanSciver, Alan Davis and Mark Bagley on some new Valiant books.

For my part, there are a TON of artists that I'd like to see relaunching the Valiant universe, but I'm going to approach this from the standpoint that if my favorites are already on really good books, that I'll look for talent elsewhere. For example, Alan Davis is obviously one of my all-time favorites, but he's working on his baby, Clan Destine, at Marvel so I really can't recruit him -- whereas I'd much rather see the talents of someone like Jim Cheung on something like X-O Manowar than the latest Bendis-Millar event at Marvel they'll have him doing covers for.
So, with that in mind, here are [5] right off the bat:
- Carlos Pacheco (So versatile it's insane...perhaps the next Perez in my eye).
- Joe Kubert (Nothing too demanding, but for a few special projects, cover artist, etc.? Wow!)
- Jim Cheung (X-O would be a great title for his technical skill).
- Andrea Di Vito (Already a great artist in the making, he'd be a VERY valuable asset for any number of books).
- Paul Pelletier (I can't get Davis...I'm getting Pelletier! Very slick, and he can obviously handle any number of characters).
That's a start anyhow...

Re: Jim
I'll pass on Lee. Not that he isn't a good artist, it's just that he doesn't dedicate himself completely on jobs. Plus, he's a lot like Bryan Hitch when it comes to deadlines. I like my comics monthly, not quarterly.h-comics wrote:I would love to see Jim Lee take a crack at it.I love the way he drew Hard Corps 1 cover.I am just A Jim Lee fan.

All good choices, especially Aja. His work on Iron Fist has been amazing. He'd be perfect on a book like Rai.Jay Tomio wrote:I was going to start a topic like this
Mind you my choices are based on style I'd like to see in VALIANT or on particular characters not just based on who would bring instant money, I'm also not going to include people who really only (or mostly) do covers (Del Otto, Suydam, Bianchi etc ) My short list:
Gene Ha
David Aja
Shane Davis
John Cassaday
Joe Bennett
- Daniel Jackson

Maybe she could hand-paint some of the covers. I'm assuming they won't be hand-painting their comics, but if they got JJ to hand-paint a few colors that would really bring back the memories of her great work for the original Valiant.
