No, I did not get one of those. I didn't initially want one either, but I was @ work when the pre-sale started and I couldn't get online to even try (this was after I changed my mind and decided that I did want one).
I really feel that the market is going to drop out from the bottom of this one eventually, though.

Yes, the $600 to $900 being bought on ebay now wont last . . .
There will definitely be a point where there is a huge glut on the market . . . probably when they are first actually shipped . . .
You should try to get one then . . . with the movie and the really nice design and sculpt I still think this will rise again in value after that though . . .
Many people are talking about getting 2 and trying to get one painted the red & gold so they have an original version with lights . . .
They only made 2 of the Red & Gold version with lights . . . 1 went to Robert Downey Jr and the other was auctioned off for chairity . . . it sold for $ 18,100.00

This is a nice statue... I seriously considered getting one of the normal ones a while back but that damn elongated forearm on IM (the one striking the ground) seriously made me balk. Just like something I would have noticed on the Punisher statue that I have. That could have been shortened a bit to be made more realistic. If there is anyone who has proportion down to a tee, that is Bowen.
Sideshow is usually money though, especially the WETA Sideshow products. If there were a movie to get into that involved statues, weapons, busts and other assorted BEAUTIFUL pieces of.... it would be The Lord of the Rings. To me I have not seen any more beautiful pieces than from there. If that much detail and serious attitude was taken for the superhero line, I think that we would see an appreciation in all superhero values across the line.
Off the beaten path a bit but does anyone have the link to the active value wesite for all Bowen statues/busts ? I thought I saved it off but now cannot find it. It is a GREAT tool when debating to purchase a Bowen product off Ebay and has made 'making an under the table deal' SO much easier.
This is SUCH an addicting hobby but for me, only when I can get a deal with the exception of the Hard Hero DD and IM, my ONLY deal on those was 'free shipping' (which I didnt consider THAT bad with current shipping prices on these babies at $21 plus). I was surprised at the relatively low price of the Captain America which I am in HIGH anticipation of getting. It seriously looks like the BEST Captain America product Bowen has ever produced. It comes out around Christmas time (
) but that also makes me wonder about the timeframe of Cap's immenant return. Eh, it would make sense to me. My Punisher I got from Siren for what I deem a really good deal, I gotta laugh though as I think that I just about broke him trying to get it out of the incredible packing that Siren provided. LOL I gotta say though that at the moment, my Punisher, Captain America, Silver Age Iron Man, Stealth Nick Fury and Black Panther are my fav Bowen busts though, attention to detail and staying true to form on those busts are impressive.

Never mind, surprising what a 0530 hrs in the morning search will come up with.Knightt wrote:Off the beaten path a bit but does anyone have the link to the active value wesite for all Bowen statues/busts ? Nah, it's symmetrical. It's probably a perception thing from the images, because when I look at mine, I don't see it.Knightt wrote:This is a nice statue... As he twists at the waste and brings his arm down the shoulder armature would naturally create a line from the fist to the back... that might be what you are seeing. The symmetry on that statue is nearly dead on.
My only problem with it is that there is no focal point for viewing while displayed. It makes it hard to create a proper orientation when aligned on a shelf for how you want to look at it. Other than that I'd say that it's the best Iron Man statue ever produced maybe after the Legendary Bust.

I just want to warn anyone who might be thinking of getting one on ebay . . . These statues will not be shipping anytime soon so ebay will not be able to protect your purchase . .
They actually started to pull some of the auctions because it is against ebay policy to sell items that are more than 30 days from being in hand . . .
oh . .and here is another pic . . .

Upon lengthier inspection: It is the forearm the sets me off. It is too skinny and the lines are not curved as the are in the piece of art that this was based off from.Knightt wrote:Wrist to elbow... simply too long. I noticed it when I saw it for the first time at last years SDCC. I had SERIOUSLY considered getting one as the paint job on that piece is incredible but the wrist to elbow thing would bug me forever (as does my giraffe Punisher... LOL)
And speaking of IM... his current issues are most excellent !!! Both the regular series and the Hypervelocity miniseries that just came out. GREAT stories on both AND great art. I have not enjoyed IM comics like this for a long time. I mean nothing compares to when you were a kid but not... IM is goooooood (grunt).
