I used to collect baseball cards when I was younger... I'd save a LOT of money to buy some nice cards. Some of my favorites that I don' think I've looked at in years are my Billy Williams Rookie card and my last season Mantle. I also used to be a big Mike Schmidt fan and was putting together a set of everyone of his cards for years... I never did land that Topps Schmidt Rookie that I wanted, but I have most of the others from all of the sets.
The 89 Upperdeck set is still oen of the nicest looking sets ever made, IMO. That and the first year of Topps Stadium Club were amazing. I think my favorite set though is the 87 Topps set with that awesome woodgrain border. I remember buying packs of those and that's one of the only complete sets I bought and opened just because I liked the cards so much. Donruss used to make some nice looking sets too...

I'm still impressed that Upper Deck made an 18 year old named Ken Griffey, Jr. the #1 card in their first set.speedracex wrote:I agreeIMJ wrote:

one of the few sets I still own, I really loved UD as a kid
That was some amazing "foreshadowing" right there.
Sure, his daddy was a ballplayer, but that's not all that unique.
They could have picked Bill Ripken.

My thought exactly. I've got the factory sealed 89 Udeck set, but believe it or not, that Griffey card is one of the first I pulled out of a pack back in '89. I've still got it too.speedracex wrote:is it though? As a kid I remember it really hard to find any 89 UD cards, the 1990 cards were more plentiful, thats when they "made it big"....this was just my observation as a kid though, is it different now?superman-prime wrote:ya the print run is a little exessive though

What image is it? Amazon.com seems to think a lot of theirs.MedicAR wrote:Kinda OT, but is there any interest (here or at large) in a Michael Jordan UDA Signed 8x10 in the folder (not framed)?
What kind of prices do these draw?

This is the image but it's not framed, it's just in the UDA's leather folder thingie. All paperwork and box included. I'll have to dig it out, but I think it's like #7 of 2500.greg wrote:What image is it? Re: sports cards
I used to collect sportscards up until my early twenties. I still have a bunch of them in boxes and I have a friend though that still collects them and whenever he gets a Cowboy card, he gives them to me.superman-prime wrote:anyone here collect sports cards or mTG?

I had two of those rc's but I sold them back in the mid-90's for $60 bucks apiece because I needed the money. I wish I had kept them though.greg wrote:I'm still impressed that Upper Deck made an 18 year old named Ken Griffey, Jr. the #1 card in their first set.speedracex wrote:I agreeIMJ wrote:
