I'm not sure if you ever cleared this mystery up, but I just bought that "Special Limited Edition" version of Rebel at a local con. There's also an E-bay auction if you need a pic. Again, I could not tell by looking at the checklist if the book had been confirmed or not. Thanks, ~PeteBrother J wrote:I'll get right on it...Chiclo wrote:Great, so is there a similar set of four for Rebel?
EDIT: ok, there ARE two versions of the gold, one with the Diamond and one with the fist holding a bolt of lightning. I could not find any evidence of there being a limited edition version of the regular cover. So it looks like only 3 versions of the Rebel book.

finally got my standar issue of the guide to CGW.
I now have pic capabilitites too so will dig out the platinum version and post it up so you can all see it.
Im guessing the platinum is the scarcest of all the CGW premiunms seeing as no one else had heard of or new it existed?
I picked a few more issues of my CGW list but im still needing a spankload.

Once I get my collection together and sorted through, I should have quite a grip of these to liquidate.Draco wrote:finally got my standar issue of the guide to CGW.

Ok here is the Platinum version of the guide to CGW.
Like i said before it was so badly packaged im lucky to have rec'd it in this grade.
The back cover is all platinum & you can see the damage caused by posting this international with little or no protection.

Does anyone know what these things are worth, I saw a copy of the Golden City Portfolio with a Golden City Week 1 Rebel Gold Diamond Cover included yesterday and was wondering if it was worth picking up. Thanks for your help. ScottBrother J wrote:Another thing I found were "Collector's Portfolios" for Arcadia, Golden City, Steel Harbor and Vortex. Since these are portfolios and not comics, not sure if you want to add them, but I threw it out there.

Thanks, If it had been X I probably would have gotten it anyway, but I was never a big fan of Rebel. Ok. So, here's how I'm going to do this. Collections and special editions don't count, since they aren't part of continuity, just "alternate covers" and such. It'd be like demanding you read the Harbinger HC after you've finished reading the entire first run of Valiant, lol. That said, I have borrowed the list of books and this is what I've come up with in terms of what I think works. I am only covering characters within the actual "CGW/DHH" universe. As such, the Mask, who joined the DHH label, only had one series which crossed into this continuity, thus the omition of all but one Mask series.
Comics Greatest World 16 issue mini-series:
NOTE: This area is a bit dicey. Each issue has a 1 page prologue. The first 15 of these tell the first chronological story in the universe. As such, these 15 pages should be read first. Then, you have to read:
X: One Shot (to the Head)
NOTE: With the above one shot, you need to read until the big splash page where X jumps out a window. At this point, you can look back at the prologue to the first week in order to understand the "Now. Arcadia." remark on the splash page. At this point, once you understand this "blip" in continuity, you can proceed through to the next series.

I don't get it... I read these as follows ?
Ghost, volume one: 17-19
Motorhead: 6
The Mask-World Tour: 1-4
King Tiger/Motorhead: 1-2
Ghost, volume one: 20-25
Barb Wire-Ace of Spades: 1-4
Ghost, volume one: 26-36
Ghost special: 2-3
Like nothing in between Ghost, vol 1: 26-36 ? Nothing was printed during that time frame ? I think I was expecting the order in which to read the books probably by week.
Great work, but I am not understanding it.

Yeah, that's the thing about the whole CGW/DHH line. There was a time when Ghost was the only title left from the line, at which point they dropped the whole DHH moniker. The "order" I put the books in is as close to "continuity" as possible. By this, I mean that you avoid something like ::SPOILERS::reading the first 5 issues of X, which end with Titan being promised as "on his way to town"-and wondering how, since he's still in Golden City-but then, follow that up with the issues of Catalyst in which he leaves the group.::END OF SPOILERS::: That is the sort of "bug" I was trying to avoid. I was also, at the same time, giving people large yet manageable chunks of reading that they can do, in more or less "arc" setups. An example of this would be Ghost 20-25, which is a MAJOR arc in that series. I could break it down into smaller groups, but the order, as it is, has to more or less remain the same. I am definitely open to suggestions. Let me know if I am getting what you were getting at, and in the meantime, I will look over the order and try to see if I can't box them off into actual "week by week" segments.Knightt wrote:I don't get it... So the list is a 'this makes sense to read it this way' chronological way to read CGH. i.e. reading the weekly assignment of books could produce spoilers ? If that is the case... genius, my friend.

Thank you and yes, that is precisely why I chose this method of doing it. I could keep the order and come up with some sort of random "read these books this week" deal, but that would likely result in some weeks having HEAVY reading and other weeks being very light. It would also result in some books being read all in one week and then nothing for a month. The thing about CGW/DHH is that the shipping schedule got messed up several times during the first year, resulting in some glitches in continuity (not to mention lowered sales) and which, imo, helped lead to the demise of the line. But, it was fun while it lasted.Knightt wrote:OH HELL TO THE YEAH on that... Storyline. The way it happened was that 2 new characters that were intended to be major new characters, but never became major, were introduced in the special. These were The Scream and Challenge, aka Tommy Kafka. The Scream made his SECOND appearance in the 3 "Arcadia" issues of Will to Power. I can't recall if Kafka showed up in W2P, but I think so. He definitely appeared in X later on. The Scream was only ever seen in W2P and the 2-page spread in Revelations. However, the plans to have these characters become major parts of storyline in the 3rd year of X went by the wayside when the book was abruptly ended at issue 25. We did get a true conclusion to the series, but those last 2 or 3 issues felt a bit rushed and it sucked that we never got to see some of the after effects of the last storyline.Knightt wrote:I never knew of the breaks in continuity. This will be an excellent aid in reading this DU.... uh, when I get it finished. hehehehe
I see you have even incorporate the 'X Special #1 and #2', Hero Illustrated issues.
