ok, so I listened to the podcast yesterday and my name was mentioned twice by Butter Brickle (or Capt. Ketchup or whatever Razz). It was cool, but I feel bad if he feels that I was implying that he was "ugly". I wasn't saying that at all. Instead, I was addressing comments on this board about him being gay. No offense, but when I hear his voice (and maybe others feel the same way), sometimes he does have that stereotypical metrosexual sounding voice. Not all the time, but at certain times. All I was saying is that the voice doesn't really fit the way he looks. All clear? Confused

By the way, I tried to leave a voice mail saying the same thing, but I got a bit tongue tied. I guess you guys can use it if you want to, even if it makes me sound stupid. Neutral

One word:
FAB-UL-OUS Very Happy

Love the podcast

I liked the new podcast.

It got me even more excited for SDCC.

I would like to also say, that I was hoping that you guys were going to do a recent reads section. I really like that part. I like the Valiant themes (obviously) but I have learned so much about the comic collecting hobby from you guys.

SO, for me, I like the recent reads and also think you guys could do a "past reads" section. Highlighting a classic (or not so classic) reads.

Basically, I just like listening to you dudes talk about comics. Thumbs Up

I just listened to episode 15 Blood of Heroes over the weekend. Great episode!

You mentioned the art work that Greg submitted to win the drawing/contest Razz

Is that on this site somewhere or over at OTV?

I was going to do the Brigade 1 that came out last week.

And I was prepared to say that the art was mediocre! Much better than I expected.

Great podcast, you guys seem a little energized to have new stuff to talk about. I loved when Chiclo started hyperventilating while Z was talking about Poseidon Adventure.

Good points about the anticipation changing your expectations ... it was a lot like Star Wars.

You guys kinda joked about how "deep and metaphysical" you got there for a while, but I think that the depth is there and was intended to be.

I had never really thought about the contrast in the characters with Phil and Erica related to meeting their other "selves". Phil, though haunted by his past, accepted himself and so the two selves agreed to merge. Erica loathed herself and rejected herself therefore, when she faced herself she killed her (self Razz ) Weird grammar there, but I hope you get my point.

Something else that I began to think about while listening to your discussion on why Phil was stronger than Erica. Again there seems to be more depth here than I ever initially thought (and I always thought it was pretty deep!) Even their respective origins tie into the character themselves. Phil chose to become what he always wanted to be by creating his "wish machine" while once again, the actions of a man were pushed onto Erica. Another man forcing his will on her, and she just has to accept it. Until she finally decided she'd had enough and wanted to fight back.

Sorry to keep talking to myself so much, but....

When talking about the variants for Unity, one other thing you could have mentioned was the fervor that Wizard caused by printing an ad with a Black cover for Unity #0. Fans believed that this was a variant that was out there that was so rare no one had seen it. I remember reading an apology about it later which is what brought it to my attention. This ties into what Z was saying about how in 1992 everything was all Valiant all the time and it almost seemed as though no one else was even publishing at the time.

ZANGIEF!!!!

I'm glad that Jacques was able to meet you guys; I was super happy that he went to your recording solely based on my talks with him before 'Con. He is going to check out some of your episodes and claims he will check out this site to learn more 'bout Valiant.

So, how did the 'Con go for you, Chiclo? What was your best find of the weekend?
