My opinion is this
It's beautifully drawn, the characterization is dead on, the character consistancy works, the references to previous events is great... but, personally, I'm done with VALIANT cosmic events.
I'm just fed up with the premise of "cosmic powers are threatening the fabric of reality, so all the heroes must gather together to stop them!!!"
What I liked about Unity was that the underlying motivation for what Erica was doing was that she wanted to erase her father's abuse. When has something that human ever motivated a cosmic entity at either DC or Marvel?
In Unity 2000, on the other hand, there was no underlying motivation, it was all pretty clear and lacked drama.
Now, I don't know what this story is, but even if it had something along the same lines as Erica's deal, I would much rather have seen something less cosmic and something more grounded, maybe a version of the 99 event or something.
Either way, great job guys

(and it's so good to see Clay again, although I suspect Geoff's return is right around the corner....)

How can you re-invent "god" and NOT have it be a significant event?ManofTheAtom wrote:My opinion is this

Solar as God is too VH 2. At VALIANT it wasn't about Solar trying to be God, it was about Phil fighting to keep his humanity.
I could do without the God aspect of the story.

We can reveal this: "God" is not a skrull or a survivor from a long-dead planet.

I personally wasn't thinking Solar was the "god" character in this story. I did think it was going to be a Phil story when they first announced it (like a way to keep Phil around, make him some new character), but after reading this, that thought hadn't really crossed my mind. I just assumed they left him out because of the whole Gold Key issue.ManofTheAtom wrote:That's one of the problems I have with the story. How can you re-invent "god" and NOT have it be a significant event?
