Posted this on the DK board today.
Also, not sure if I have discussed the Boom Stan Lee books here or did so at the Valiant boards but look at the numbers for these July books.

275 STAN LEE TRAVELER #9 4,251
276 STAN LEE SOLDIER ZERO #10 4,250
284 STAN LEE STARBORN #8 3,995

So much for these books being in higher demand than the DK line. Even the low print run Samson was generating more sales than this. To no surprise, I found this weekend that the Stan Lee books will be discontinued with the 12th issues of each being their last. Boom deserves credit for at least hanging in there long enough to comfortably conclude those titles. Not sure how good they have been since have only read preview samples of them but at least they did not experience the production delays which plagued our DK books.

I think this is VERY similar to how the GK books would have gone. Bad art and not exactly stunning stories will do this to any book.

On a seperate note I'm suprised Starborn was the worst seller, seemed the most interesting from the first issue.

Reading the line of 3 since the start, Starborn has had the weakest art and most confusing storyline in my view, and I find it the least enjoyable.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

In my opinion, the Dr Solar stories were stunning beginning with issue 5. :thumb: The rest of the stories were strongly trending upward, too.

But sadly you don't pick up readers at issue 5, only lose them. I agree they were getting better. But with a non-existant time schedule and more than half of the readers scared off by the first few issues they didn't stand a chance.

No doubt if they'd started the series with issue 5, and sustained their publishing schedule, we'd be talking about a hit book right now.

I added numbers on Turok 4 and Mighty Samson 4. I had to estimate Mighty Samson 4 myself, and that's explained next to the number I entered for it.

Knowing the way they promoted Dark Key they probably would be like - "We released that? You Sure? Wow, We didn't know that."

That's pretty likely that 533 is the number that Diamond sold through. I've yet to see a DK trade of any kind in a shop or at a convention. If customers didn't like the singles, there's no chance in hell that retailers gambled on trades. Those 533 were probably mostly pre-orders.
