Batman suckin'...
Is it just me or did this whole death of Batman, going through time and stuff just take a dump on the front lawn ? I have never been so dissappointed in a the Batman mythos in a VERY long long time. I totally dropped the 'Return of Bruce Wayne' which ugly *SQUEE* good idea fairy come up with this idea ?
Put Bruce back in the cowl and lets be done with this foolishness. I can't even read Captain America any longer and don't get me started on FrankenCastle/Punisher !!!
Not ONE book that I am buying now is Marvel or DC... said ain't it ?
Dark Horse has taken the #1 spot which Marvel held for YEARS. Even through Valiant's days it was Marvel, Valiant, Ultraverse, Imgage, Dark Horse, DC and I was spending about $40 a week on comics. I've trimmed that WAY down and am glad of it.
I will be adding Atlas comics here in the near future.

You and me both, bro. Fraction's run was one of the best Punisher runs I can remember, but almost as soon as Remender was in...I was OUT.Knightt wrote:...don't get me started on FrankenCastle/Punisher !!!

Do you read any Vertigo titles? If so, that IS DC...and if not...try Fables and The Unwritten. Also, try another Image title-since I've seen elsewhere that you are reading Walking Dead-....try Chew. It's a tasty morsel.Knightt wrote:Is it just me or did this whole death of Batman, going through time and stuff just take a dump on the front lawn ? No I am not a DC fan with the exeption of Batman and when DC does stuff like The Web, The Mighty Crusaders, (all the Red Circle stuff in which I am trying to scoop up now as I think it is a nice read), Flash Rebirth and that is about it. I tried GL and BD... got bored TOO quick.sanman wrote:I’m on the fence and waiting to see what happens with the new Batbooks—though the last Batman a Robin was good IMHO. But who knows, in a few months I may only be buying Batman and Detective for consistency sake.
No Green Lantern books or Brightest Day? I’ve found these to be extremely consistent.
Re: Batman suckin'...
Yep I stalled at The Walking Dead 72, so I read 72-78 in one day to get caught up and in the mood for the TV show. I've picked up the TPBs for cheap. I found TPB #4 at my LCS over the weekend during their 50% off sale for $4 but found out later it was the FIFTH printing, still got a good deal on the TPB. I have a deal on TPBs 1, 2 and 3 here on the boards, I hope I didnt screw that one up as it slipped my mind with all the stuff I had going on.xodacia81 wrote:Do you read any Vertigo titles? I could have also picked up TWD TPBs for $4 each 1, 2, 3, 5 but knew I had some on the back burner. If I screw this up, I'll be bummed. I looked for a few Batman TPBs and just could not find one that I liked, all relevant to what I feel for the series right now.

anyone reading the Neal Adams Batman book? I heard the writing in it (done by Neal himself) is pretty bad. Also, from the little bit I've seen, it doesn't look like the art is up to Neal's usual standards, either. I picked the first three issues up for $1 a piece at a comic show this past weekend, but considering it is Neal Adams doing Batman, you would think there would be more of a buzz on this series.

I have to disagree on Unwritten. My wife buys that and I have tried to read it. It is just too damned pretentious.xodacia81 wrote:Do you read any Vertigo titles? I went from being totally excited—I must have the variant covers kinda thing—to not really caring that much either way. Since its Adams on a Batman story, I’m going to stick with it.Brother J wrote:anyone reading the Neal Adams Batman book? I heard the writing in it (done by Neal himself) is pretty bad. However, I’m having a hard time with what appears to be an alternate universe—what’s up with Robin and Aquaman's costumes?

I am completely with you.
I was really into Batman up until RIP. After Rip everything went downhill quick. This whole time travel thing in "The Return.." is just rediculous. I truely believe that all batman fans should be outraged with the crap Grant Morrison has put out in the last two years.
On a good note I heard the Detective Comics issues with batwoman was pretty good. I have not read it, so I can not personal vouch for it.
I liked Captain America until Reborn, which was confusing again and seemed completely rediculous (I feel like I am using the same words over and over). Steve was unstuck in time!!!!!????!!! Really??? The story was rushed and weak. I don't even want to get started about the storyline where it Brubaker basically put Cap up against the Teaparty. Please keep politics out of comics. It just ruins the entertainment value.
They need to stop killing characters.
I now feel a lot better.

I wrote off DC and Marvel a while ago. I just buy there best stories when I can find a cheap set on ebay. I did find an online comic store that sells all the independents at about 35% off (some they sell for less, some for more). Some books, like 1st issues, are offered at 75% off. It's a great deal, I just ordered my december comics. I got $44 worth of stuff for just $28 dollars, and that's including the shipping cost. I ended up getting 36% of the cover price all in all. The stores called the discount comic book service. One of the books I bought came at 50% off and signed by the writer. I just wanted to tell people about it because it is such a good deal. I hope it helps some people.

The only ongoing book from Marvel that is worth buying and reading is X-Factor because for the most part it doesn't interact to much with the rest of the X-Books that much and when it does some how Peter David explains it quickly and doesn't make it confusing as hell.
DC has sucked since Countdown to Infinte Crisis #1 came out.

I've actually really been digging the Morrison story, and Red Robin is another of my favorite DC books every month. Right now the only Marvel book I'm getting is Invincible Iron Man. I just don't have the funds or the gumption to keep up with the X-World and nothing else Marvel is doing has really caught my interest.
Batman Odyssey is absolutely horrible. So horrible, in fact, that I just have to follow it to the end to see how low it will go.

I have for a while. But the last couple of months it's just lost me. Odyseey is mental...
