Post by tschloendorn »

Now that the ballots are in The Inkwell Awards would proudly like to thank the 2011 Nomination Committee for their generous time & effort: Stacey Aragon, Michael W. Kellar, Michael Hoskin, Johnny B. Gerardy, Pat Covey, Jay Pillarella, Erick Korpi, Rik Offenberger, Damon Owens, Patrick Thomas, Matt Herring, Scott Harris, Nathan Machado, Buddy Scalera and Robert Haines.

The NomCom consists of an annual, rotating committee selected from various and eclectic parts of the comic book industry who voluntarily participate such as retailers,
promoters, creators, bloggers, historians, interviewers, website owners, podcasters, fans, and more! Participants who put in five years of their time will receive a silver inkwell trophy thanking them for their dedication.

For the 2011 Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame Committee, the following participated: Bob Almond, Kris Fenol, Bob Shaw, Joe Sinnott, Stacey Aragon, Daniel Best, Tim Townsend, Sal Velluto, Dan Panosian, Terry Austin, and Bill Nichols. The HoF NomCom consists of members associated with the non-profit organization such as the core committee, from whom nominations are mandatory, and associates, from whom they are optional, such as Ambassadors, Contributors (minus the models), ex-committee, and past award recipients.

This list of Nominators will be added to the website once it has been officially relaunched this spring. Ballots have been tallied and are now going through the validation period by the committee to monitor eligibility. Public voting will take place in April when the final ballot of nominees is posted at the online website.

This year the results will announced with the organization and award recipients in attendance at the first live awards ceremony at Heroes Con on June 3-5. Heroes Events Coordinator Shawn Doughtee said: “…we would love for (The Inkwells) to give (the award trophies) away at HeroesCon. We have always done our best to support inkers and we would be honored to play host to it.”

The Inkwell Awards (http://www.inkwellawards.com) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and educate about the art form of comic book inking and to annually recognize and award the best ink artists and their work. Now proceeding into their fourth year, the organization is overseen by a number of industry professionals such as founder & director Bob Almond, Jimmy Tournas, Bob Shaw, Nathan Massengill, Daniel Best and Kris Fenol who make up the IA core committee and Adam Hughes, Mike Marts, Ethan Van Sciver, Mark Brooks, Sal Velluto, Mike McKone, and Trevor Von Eeden who make up their IA ambassadors, and numerous contributors. They sponsor the Dave Simons Inkwell Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art and host the Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame.
