Bloodshot #0 platinum. (kinda)

Post by wallywest1980 »

Check out what I found in the 25 cent bin at my LCS.

Did I mention I did some surgery on it? That's right, it's FAKE! Looks good though right?

And before you ask, no, I will not tell you how I did it, simply because someone out there would start making copies to sell. I just made this because I'll never have a real one, and to prove that it can be done.

WOW! Knowing how you did it, do you think CGC could tell that you made it?

Doubtfull. There are no marks on the inside or outside of the cover, IF they knew how it was done, MAYBE, but even I haven't found anything that would make me look really close, except that I flipped the pages inside over, just incase someone ever tried to sell it. Better safe than sorry. After seeing that last one net $1300 I figured I'd give it a go, since it seems fishy that there are what? 25 of these confirmed? Yet some sites say that over 200 have turned up. I think someones been busy making copies.

I haven't ever had one.
Now, I'm scared of them. :|

I assume your method would also work for making X-O Manowar #0 Platinum fakes? :hm:
Sounds like we should be worried about all possibilities.

Was wondering where this went. And yes itd be just as easy to make an xo fake. Or ninjak clear. I kind of want to get a gold bloodshot and try that pink version. Just to see if it can be done. Best bet for spotting a fake is to look for finger prints that wont rub off but thats only if they dont wear gloves. Not saying that they are all fake just to think long and hard before forking over cash to someone you dont know.

I wouldnt go that far. Suspect definitley. But real ones exist. The question is how many real versus how many fake.

After seeing Jedi attempt something like this years ago, I had a feeling someone would eventually figure out a way to do this.

Dang, that's very interesting. Someone with a pile of rubber gloves could make a killing.

Little more to it than that. Although, it was much easier than you would think.

Well, I am not going to get one now.... I would be to scared to spend $1000+ on something that could be fake. If one person did it, then who is to say that the next one to come on the market is real and not faked?

I don't think it kills the market for them, just makes buyers think twice before spending a grand or more on something that can be faked, then again the mafia had plans to reproduce superman #1 and sell them as real before they got busted. So ANY high dollar books should be examined BEFORE you spend a load of cash on them.
I thought about offering to make some of these for the vvss, but I think it's kind of shady asking someone to sign a forgery. That and I don't feel like flooding the market with fakes. Hence keeping my mouth shut about how it was done.
And finally, I plan on trying to make a couple of the other Error books, the pink bloodshot and clear ninjak at the top of my list, just waiting for copies to come in, in the mean time I keep staring at a copy of superman 82 and trying to figure out what I could do with that one.... :hm:

Whoa. If you really made that, you should tell greg or someone how you did it.

You should make another one without any fingerprints and send it to cgc and let them know about it and see if they can detect any tampering.

This is a bit disturbing and I'm glad I got rid of my copy a while ago.

Yeah, it does. That was my initial thought as well. That's why I hope he is joking about this. The little mark in the "A" under valiant is there. There is the same scuffing mid photo. I'm hoping he's just joking and put up a pic of that stock photo.
