Stronger Cover Stock
First thing I noticed when I picked them up today.
MUCH sturdier stuff.
Thanks, VEI!
As I am reading, pages seem better, too.

I'd also cheer on a stronger cover stock or internal paper stock. Huzzah!

Re: Stronger Cover Stock
I plan on binding all my VEI material in to hardcover format - as such, I liked the thinner covers as it makes the bound books easier to flip through. Card stock doesn't work all that well for me.

First thing I noticed too. They weigh more, are sturdier, and look thicker.
I hope they keep it up!

Re: Stronger Cover Stock
I noticed the weight right away and pointed it out to 3 of LCS guys I visted today, I had XO #10 and A&A #7 from last week and was like check it out. All of them took notice and all of them were sold out or 1 copy left of the new Valiant books, they all said they need to up their orders. Never mind the fact that Harby #9 and XO #10 both knocked it out of the park as comics!
The step up in quality was noticable even as I read the whole book, it's not just the covers the interior pages also seem heavier.
I think this is the best quality books yet, that said finding good copies was still really tough due to cover scars, claw marks and weird creases.
If they could fix that damn printing press we would be off to the races, get on it maintenance guys!

Re: Stronger Cover Stock
Great... more creases this month? I had two different issues from last month that had multiple pages with full length vertical creases where it was like the paper was jammed together. Hope they get it fixed soon. Maybe the heavier paper will help with that in the future.hawkeyeps wrote:I noticed the weight right away and pointed it out to 3 of LCS guys I visted today, I had XO #10 and A&A #7 from last week and was like check it out. Re: Stronger Cover Stock
Man, I thought that I was the only one getting messed up covers this week e.g. scars, weird creases, dents and so on. I was under the impression that we folks on the west coast got the crappy leftovers from VEI through the distributor because we were the furthest away from the distribution center or something. I called my LCS about the condition of my books today and he said they were all jacked up and mine were the ones in the best shape. I believe the guy, I have known him for years and he wouldn't want to lose my business (especially in these times). On the other side of the coin, thank you VEI for providing stronger paper stock for your covers and interior, I can really tell the difference between the old paper and the newer stuff. Thank you for improving your books and listening to your customers!
