Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
I posted this a couple of weeks ago in the Facebook group, but I figured there might also be some people here who might get a kick out of it. I love HeroClix, and would really love to see a Valiant set for it. I was talking with one of the other local players, and he was of the opinion that it would have to be one of the smaller "gravity feed" HeroClix sets, since "Valiant is just such a small universe right now". To prove him wrong, and because it was a fun exercise, I developed a full set list based on the standard 60-figure set model, with 16 commons, uncommons, and rares, 12 super-rares, plus a starter set and organized play kit. At some point I might get around to mocking up dials for some of these, but for now, its just a (fairly plausible, in my opinion) set list. (Note: I used the old-school codenames for the H.A.R.D. Corps members since HW#3 still isn't out yet - if these change though for the new guard, I'll update them)

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
This is a brilliant Idea.
Not sure what the break even #s is and how many units VEI has to produce for these to be profitable, but I believe these will be done down the line.
Valiant has trading cards to be released soon. HeroClix would be something similar. When these come out, I will for sure be ordering.
Btw, where's Gamma?

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
I hadn't heard about the trading cards. Kinda hope they're not following the Cryptozoic model (or, for that matter, farming them out to Cryptozoic - their cards are beautiful, but $3.50 a pack for 5 cards is just staggering).
EDIT - nevermind, I just saw that it was Rittenhouse, which is good, I've liked their Star Trek sets. They're still expensive on their product, but as bad as Cryptozoic, and they do really quality work. I look forward to a box or two of Valiant cards whenever they hit the market.

I agree with Rittenhisouse having better quality cards than Cryptozoic. However, TWD cards have been extremely popular.

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
Not into Heroclix myself but this is a great idea. I'd probably end up buying a few just to get my hands on Faith.
And my other favorites like X-O, H.A.R.D. Corps, and the Armorines when they came out.
Here's hoping VEI goes with this idea. ![Hope :hope:](./images/smilies/893crossfingers-thumb.gif)

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
VEI wouldn't need anything to break even on this. It would totally be a licensing deal as the heroclix line is produced by Wiz Kids. So it would be a matter of;
1. Wiz Kids being interested
2. Wiz Kids offering an amount that VEI is happy with.
When heroclix was still pretty new, they did release an "Indy comics" set with pieces like Hellboy. So I guess a Valiant set isn't completely out of the realm of possibility.
I've gotta think that the VEI line would need to be more established and have a bigger following before Wiz Kids would be willing to shell out the dough to even get the license much less take this into production.
Oh, and some of the rares would have to be big names like Bloodshot, Shadowman, X-O Manowar etc. I just can't see too many kids buying a bunch of boosters in hopes of scoring a Darpan figure!![Laughing ](./images/smilies/27_laughing.gif)

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
You are completely right.
I think Big Names can do them... VEI maybe not at this time.

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
Kids don't buy these - the rarity distribution is actually based around wizkids' current model - the common figures are always the most desirable characters, so that the "kids" don't have to buy that much. If you put Bloodshot and X-O in the rare and SR slots, then the casual players won't buy any, because they can't easily obtain the ones they want. The players who are more fanatical want the more obscure characters, so those get stuck into the harder-to-get slots.nutflush76 wrote: Oh, and some of the rares would have to be big names like Bloodshot, Shadowman, X-O Manowar etc. I just can't see too many kids buying a bunch of boosters in hopes of scoring a Darpan figure!
In the early days of collectible gaming, a lot of game companies went by that logic of "obviously the more desirable characters need to be rarer", and that resulted in a lot of early games suffering from what came to be known as "Luke's Aunt" syndrome (the Star Wars card game was one of the worst about this - who wants to play Dark side if you don't have Vader, and who wants to play light side if all you have is Aunt Beru?)
EDIT: and to answer drmirage's question, Gamme is # 043
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
I don't play Heroclix, but this would get me started! Have you pitched the idea to Wizkids? I wonder if there a suggestion box on their website, or at least a contact email address? Seriously this should be pursued.

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
Well, HeroClix is the premier superhero game on the market, and Valiant is the fastest-rising star in the superhero business, so I can't imagine that they haven't already been considering it. My guess is they're just waiting for the right time and/or for VEI to contact them about it.

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
Edited the set list to reflect the current state of H.A.R.D. Corps (Gunslinger was renamed to Major, and Superstar, Flatline, and Hotshot were removed - replaced with Maniac, General Redacted, and Iver Anni-Padda).
And now, the first "preview" from this set - X-O Manowar!

Re: Valiant HeroClix Dream Set List
You are probably right. It's probably up to VEI's sales team to get in touch with WizKids about this. VEI is releasing energy shots, so I can't imagine that they haven't at least thrown the idea of Heroclix out there at this point. Maybe someone should PM Dino with their idea!MrDomino wrote:Well, HeroClix is the premier superhero game on the market, and Valiant is the fastest-rising star in the superhero business, so I can't imagine that they haven't already been considering it. Oh, and great mock-up of the X-O piece!
