I think Wolverine only made one appearance lasting a few issues in Hulk before Giant Size X-Men 1, which is where he joined the X-Men team and it was the first appearance of Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Thunderbird.

I think Wolverine only made one appearance lasting a few issues in Hulk before Giant Size X-Men 1, which is where he joined the X-Men team and it was the first appearance of Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Thunderbird.

I never thought about that before, but I believe you are correct that Wolverine only appeared in those few Hulk issues before joining X-Men.

Turtles. They're much bigger than everything post-Wolverine, him included, imho.

The level of global recognition that the tmnt have, has no match since they appeared on the cartoons. For kids under 12 of today, they are on the level of Batman, Superman and Spiderman.

I'm exclusively taking "importance" as that same "global recognition" I mentioned, here.

TWD is a Huge phenomenom, absolutely the greatest hit in comics over the last decades (by hit I'm taking into account the time it took for this book to grow into spectacular levels of sales, that other franchises - much older- still dream of) AND it's a massive T.V. show. Comes in second, but there's absolutely no way I'll believe that Rick Grimes or any of the survivors are even close to the turtles in terms of "importance".

An Ent simply repeating "I am Groot" works for short, comedic bursts. the Racoon is a lead character. The kids love sarcastic heroes these days, with the animation possibilities from Disney, I am not concerned.

Comparisons to Star Wars 7 are going to be the real toughie, I think.

I totally agree. While the Walking Dead is an amazing show and its audience is amazing, that audience is limited by its subject matter. The phenomenon that was TMNT in the late 80's early 90's is unsurpassed. These guys were really the top of the heap back in the day. While their popularity isn't what it was, they are still very popular.

While I don't think it will flop, I doubt GoTG is going to be a huge film. Thor and Captain America were moderate hits (although I expect their sequels to be bigger than the first movies because of the Avengers) and they were much more popular and known than the Guardians were.

Hell, Star Trek: Into Darkness, a similar film to GoTG which has a huuuge fan base, only managed to gross $220 million domestically. I expect GoTG to be similar in Box office to Star Trek. Adjusted for inflation of course!

Storms 1st appearance was in the same issue as Wolverine's 2nd, along with Colossus' and Nightcrawler

But to me the most important characters are Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. GI Joe #21 totally blew my mind when both of these characters had the same tat! I had the figures, the comic books the dog tags, I was I the GI Joe club(that's right) lol. This property greatly influenced me when I decided to enlist. I actually lived the life that I had envisioned as a kid in the 80s.

If you think about it, this is the only comic book that let's you live out your fantasy. No radioactive bite, no alien landing in the fields, no parents getting shot in the back of a theatre. Pick up your ruck, your m16 load it on the tank and roll out!! Yo Joe!!!
