I'm definitely interested. It's 700 miles away, though.

I think the wife said no-go. If we go to a con next year, she wants it to be Wonder Con. As much as I'd love to meet Peter David and see the Babylon 5 people we are not going. LA is not much farther than Houston anyways.

Well, we're all packed up ready to head out in the morning. We're going to stay in Houston tomorrow night (Thursday). We have a "free stay" we have from a particular chain. Then we'll head from there to Galveston Island first thing Friday morning. I've got autograph tickets for Claudia Christian, Bruce Boxlietner, and Jerry Doyle. Claudia told me she allows photos taken with her at the signing table and I'm hoping the others do too as I decided against paying for professional photographs with anyone. I don't have much cash for the dealers room, so don't expect to come away with any goodies. But I'm pretty excited! My first big convention in 17 years!
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Re: Space City Con, Houston TX, Jan 3-5, 2014
Having a great time so far! My only complaint is the convention Nazis hovering around the celebrities making sure they don't sign an autograph or take a picture that somebody didn't pay for.
Claudia Christian had told me on Facebook (yeah, we're "friends") that the cast doesn't limit the number of items they sign for the one fee, and that they all allow taking pictures with them in the signing line. So, I'm at her table chatting with her (she was the first one I stopped to see), she signs my second item and I'm handing her the third (and final) item and her "shadow" jumps in and says "That's $50." I say that would have been nice to know before I had that second item signed and I take back the third before she signs it. I still end up having to pay an extra $25. But she did take a picture with me, against her minder's wishes before she was wisked away to the professional photo ops.
Bruce Boxlietner could only sign one item and couldn't take a picture with me. Actually, he was very willing, and even started to come around his table to take a pic until his assigned convention Nazi stopped him. He signed one item, and no picture, but he was pleasant to chat with and when I handed him the cast photo I got as part of my membership in the Official Babylon 5 Fan Club, he got very reminiscent of the cast members that have passed away.
Jerry Doyle cancelled at the last minute, so I exchanged my autograph voucher for Peter Jurasik. He was such a nice guy. And his assigned shadow was really cool. Her attitude was "hey, whatever Peter wants to do!" I had Peter sign two items (the fan club cast photo and a carded action figure), he took a picture with me, and he then signed two trading cards he had on his table for my daughters, out of his own generosity and kindness. My whole family really enjoyed meeting him.

I haven't taken a lot of pics yet. Will fix that tomorrow.
Here's me and Claudia Christian.
And me and Peter Jurasik.
My girls with their signed cards that Peter Jurasik gave them.
My girls saw Korra (from the Legend of Korra, the sequel series to Avatar: The Last Airbender) and wanted to take a picture with her.
She was really awesome and gave them a waterbending lesson.

Very cute kids! The one in the hat looks like she could be a firebrand from time to time.

I have had a great time at Space City Con! Meeting the B5 cast, being here for the big reunion panel, seeing all the people and costumes... it has really been amazing. I'm so glad I was able to make it.
If anybody is interested, you can see all my photos here:
http://s210.photobucket.com/user/Heathi ... Con%202014" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A few of my favorites (other than those already posted):
Steampunk Angel? I thought she was quite pretty.
This might have been my favorite costume. Quite amazing. And she played the role perfectly.
Aeryn and Spidey.
Really great Weeping Angel.
JMS sent Bruce Boxleitner a letter to read for him during the big B5 cast reunion.

They both are! The one in the hat you referred to is Aeryn (the name comes from the Farscape character, Aeryn Sun). She's really the most reserved of the two. She's often quite content to play by herself or spend hours sitting on the floor drawing and coloring. The curly headed one is Zoey. She's the one with the big personality. Always at one extreme or the other. Never afraid of anything and wears her heart on her sleeve. But they had a role reversal when walking the convention floor. I think Aeryn enjoyed seeing the people in costume the most. She wasn't shy at all about asking someone to take a picture with her, which surprised me.lorddunlow wrote:Very cute kids! A few more pics of the girls below. These are linked directly from my wife's Facebook page, so let me know if there's any problem with them showing up and I'll copy them to my Photobucket.

That's Julie Caitlin Brown who played Na'Toth (G'Kar's aid) in the first season. She sang the national anthem, a cappella, for the con's opening ceremony and did an amazing job.Chiclo wrote:Who is that sitting next to Bruce Boxleitner? For the panel, they brought everybody out in somewhat of an alphabetical order by last name. They also rearranged themselves as they came out. Bruce Boxleitner being first in the alphabetical order, was on the far left (or to the right relative to the audience). Here's some more pics of the panel.
From right to left: Bruce Boxleitner (John Sheridan), Julie Caitlin Brown (Na'Toth), Andrea Thompson (Talia Winters), Jason Carter (Marcus Cole), Claudia Christian (Susan Ivanova), Joshua Cox (Lt. Corwin), Robin Atkin Downes (Morann & Byron), Patricia Tallman (Lyta Alexander), Maggie Egan (ISN Anchor), Mira Furlan (Delenn), Stephen Furst (Vir), Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari), Bill Mumy (Lennier). I never could get pictures because of people's heads, but also on the panel were Tracy Scoggins (Elizabeth Lochley), Marshall Teague (Ta'Lon), Bridget Flannery (Zoe in the episode Day of The Dead), and Dylan Neal (David Martell from the Legend Of The Rangers TV movie).
During the Q&A, someone from the audience asked if Bruce and Mira could sit next to each other, so he swapped seats with someone else. Here's a picture after the move and a couple other closer pictures I took.

Re: Space City Con, Houston TX, Jan 3-5, 2014
After the big cast reunion in Phoenix, they posted a video of the panel as well as videos of the other Babylon 5 panels. I'm really hoping they do the same for this one. They had cameras set up at every panel recording everything. I went to *almost* every Babylon 5 related panel, but did end up missing a couple because of time conflicts.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Not my video. Just found it on YouTube. This is Bruce reading the letter that JMS wrote for him to read at the con.
More videos of that panel and other panels here: https://www.youtube.com/user/wtrswoopes ... =0&sort=dd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The convention had professional cameras set up at every panel. I don't know when or if those videos will be available.
