For writer i would suggest Greg Rucka,
He is really good with characterization and he is good at world building as seen in Lazarus..
Artist i am drawing blank right now..

I wonder if this is the monthly that Clayton Crain was talking to them about. I think that would be pretty amazing.

Re: Suggestions for new Rai creative team
Ron Marz writing with art by either Bart Sears or Matthew Dow Smith. Ron worked with both artists on the Path and it was an absolutely amazing book and far removed from the crossgen main story.
My other suggestion is to bring back Joe St. Pierre. He says he had so many other Rai stories to tell when they decided to go in a different direction and kill off Rai. So maybe he could incorporate those stories into the new universe, maybe...

My ideal creative team would be Marc Andreyko with art by Dexter Soy, or Jeff Lemire and Neil Edwards.

good choice with andreyko! i used to love his manhunter series a few years ago.Talisman wrote:My ideal creative team would be Marc Andreyko with art by Dexter Soy, or Jeff Lemire and Neil Edwards.
if you take into consideration, this is also supposed to be a science-fiction themed book, i'd love to see one of the following writers involved:
ales kot
simon spurrier
adam egypt mortimer
brandon graham
they're all probably a bit too edgy for the mainstream tastes, though.

And I'm guessing there's no way that Brian K. Vaughn would be realistic.
Both him and Marcos Martin on Rai would kick it. I loved their Private Eye stuff.

This! There's no writer I trust more than V-Ditti right now. He knocks everything out of the park.Bone-A-Fach-ee wrote:V-Ditti writing.
I think I even heard an interview with him on a Green Lantern podcast where he said Rai was one of the characters he was most interested in writing for.

Re: Suggestions for new Rai creative team
I like Sean Murphy ... but maybe for a Shadowman book set in the future ...
My pick for Rai creative team - Mark Waid and Pere Perez
I'm a huge fan of Mark Waid ... i'd love for VEI to lure him away from Dynamite (but NOT Daredevil! my favorite and only Marvel title i collect right now) by giving him this high profile Valiant title like Rai.
And He would give Eisner prestige to VEI
I'd like to see Pere Perez draw it
I think his work on the Far Far Away arc was brilliant ... and he has a great understanding of Japanese culture and traditions with his background in Martial Arts.

Re: Suggestions for new Rai creative team
Mark Waid is good but his writing is too lighthearted for a Rai book IMO. Rai is a pretty self serious character. It's one of the many things that makes him compelling.bygranddesign wrote:I like Sean Murphy ... but maybe for a Shadowman book set in the future ...![]()

I've been enjoying Hickman's Avengers and have come to really dig the art of Jerome Opena and Dustin Weaver. There's another two I'd think would fit pretty good.

Re: Suggestions for new Rai creative team
I've been a faithful reader of Waid's Daredevil series and I think he hits all the emotional beats ... he has delved into a wide ranging spectrum of emotion and serious topics ... including cancer, death, mental and emotional breakdowns, controversial in the news topics regarding racial profiling..etc ... And he has handled all these things brilliantly. And I see a lot of similarities between Daredevil and Rai in regards to the seriousness of the character.CallMeBloodshot wrote: Mark Waid is good but his writing is too lighthearted for a Rai book IMO. I'm confident he can handle the character ... my concern would be about how willing he is going to be to push the envelope in creating this futuristic world that should blow our minds.
We might need someone who is exclusive to VEI ... like Mr. Dysart ... who I think would be another great choice because you know he will push the envelope in trying to blow our heads off...

On existing VEI writers i only trust Dysart to do Rai justice..Mark Waid would be awesome. He can handle serious stuff.Have you read his creator owned "Empire"?
it was as serious and dark it can be without going Avatar Comics on us..
Another suggestion would be Joshua Hale Fialkov..

I love V-Ditti, but I'd really like more than a week of Rai's life to be covered in the first year.CallMeBloodshot wrote:This! There's no writer I trust more than V-Ditti right now. He knocks everything out of the park.Bone-A-Fach-ee wrote:V-Ditti writing.

He was the first to pop into my head because of the themes involved in PRJ...I could see similar themes being explored in a Rai series.CallMeBloodshot wrote:I like Sean Murphy's art. Not sure about his writing.BugsySig wrote:Sean Murphy (Punk Rock Jesus) writing, Clayton Crain on art.
Ales Kot would be another good choice, and since he's done some work for VEI it is definitely possible.
