Sad that Ivar, Timewalker is ending so soon. :(

Only 8 new books? <sigh>

Unity #25 does not fill me warmth when I read the blurb (and I didn't realise that it is an 'acclaimed' book; it has felt like I am reading something else....).

The second Mirage mini is a something to look forward to, as is Imperium for me. :)

NOOOO! Ivar was the best book currently going IMO. Oh well, I will take comfort in knowing that FVL knows exactly what he is doing - and look forward to whatever other title he takes on.

I hope that VEI see his value as a counterpoint to the unending stream of Kindt.

Indeed. Not sure if anyone else saw his chat on Groupees.com, but he hinted at more Archer & Armstrong in his future, as well as another title in the works. Not sure if they are one in the same, but we clearly have more FVL on the way!

I had a feeling this would only run 12 issues, but VEI wouldn't advertise it as such.

Hopefully more A&A and/or FVL on the way soon. Guess we will have to wait another month or so to find out if January marks their return.

Everything else looks good. Dr. Mirage Vol 2, Operation Deadside, Imperium, Bloodshot, Rai, Wrath, Trill...all except Unit-Comedy...still not sure how I feel about that.

Oh, and no XO in December...replaced with Trill #0...set up to align the book with another event in May?

Started a pull list for the first time ever for Ninjak and Ivar, and one is ending after only 12 issues? I'm curious if other current Valiant titles will get this treatment.

I really hate that Ivar ends so soon. If I knew that it would end so soon I would have waited for the deluxe edition book, because it will probably be cheaper.
I seem to be the only one not to care for the Dr. Mirage miniseries.

I must say, and sad to do so, that my taste for monthly books continues to wane more and more. It's been ramped up since nu52 and then exacerbated by Marvel's universe crossover series ending events with the stop/start/renumber then there's VEI's turnover the past 1.5yr.

Poor management on Shadowman and Eternal Warrior. The unnecessary renumbering of Bloodshot. Mismanagement on UNITY, taking Divinity out hurt that titles sales and now Ivar which got scant promotion after it launched. Sure, blame sales but those are the 'egg'. The Chicken, marketing, has to squat out some effort.

Um, the archer and armstrong deluxe still doesn´t include the 1% one-shot, lets hope they realize this and include it.

9 series its ok, and they needed the extra room if they are to do a volume 2 of archer and armstrong.

Also, we still don´t know what was the hole savage teaser that is not turok, maybe early next year we´ll see some mini introducing the character.

I think that might have been referring to Bloodshot, Dinosaur Hunter.

the can’t-miss finale of RAI’s latest volume!
Does this mean a potential re-launch of Rai after #12?

As unhappy as I was about Unity ending (at #24 for me - I'm going to pretend #25 doesn't exist!) I'm actually okay with Ivar, Timewalker finishing up. So far the 8 issues have read as one continuous story and I can see FVL wrapping this thing up as a self contained story with a definitive beginning, middle and end (but still part of the broader universe) - something that Unity lacked (yep, I'll continue to sneak in digs about Unity).

Love the XO Manowar Presents: Commander Trill #0 idea. :thumb: (this even though I only read XO when tied into events)

For me I'll be picking up:

Bloodshot Reborn #9 (hope to read more of Magic and Festival)

Imperium #11 (I hope this goes longer but can see it ending to make way for Harbinger after Jan's #12)

Ninjak #10 (this is going past the 12 issue ongoing, fingers crossed it's the next XO in terms of length of run - this book is surprisingly deep!)

Rai #12 (the solicit says final issue of arc - I think it'll be back for #13 after the 4 month hiatus)

XO Manowar Presents: Commander Trill #0

I know there are publishing concerns that Valiant has to address based on circulation. However, our can't trust that an ongoing won't be a maxi series. It seems like they are all ending up that way.

I'm getting used to the concept of titles with limited issues and a defined story and purpose. I think it keeps the writer and the reader focused, and it eliminates the inevitable "so what are we gonna do now" stories that would have invariably followed once the initial idea had run its course.

I love Ivar so much ... this makes me very sad ... but the good news is that there are many more stories that could be told. He isn't called the forever walker for nothing. We see the story of how his walk finally ends ... but the stories can go on and on and on in the past/future(its very timey whimey).

Imperium (which will be at #11 in december) is another candidate to end at #12 but maybe the Divinity boost might save it

But I suspect that a re-launched Harbinger title at some point is intended to take its place

Kudos to Fred Van Lente for ALWAYS knowing how to end his stories.

As I stated in another thread, it's time really for comic books to ditch the ongoing format and to instead be a series of maxi-series (like TV Seasons). Stories with defined endings always end up more coherent and better written than open-ended stories, and VEI can also keep the core creative team intact. Do it, VEI. Us old-timers can change as long as you maximize the advantages of that format.

Pining for an ongoing is just plain old nostalgia.

You mean for VEI to do something like what Marvel is doing, technically they already are XO is their only ongoing right now.
For the two vacancies in January, I'm guessing its A&A, Harbinger related team and or a Livewire/GIN-GR cosmic team.
Don't be afraid of the Darque!

No, this is diifferent from what Marvel is doing. Marvel ends series based on sales performancr. My suggestion is for VEI to adopt a maxi-series format for story purposes and end series on scheduled regardless of sales performance.
