I wonder why Faith has done better than Harbinger: Faith 0?

Makes that a good comic to invest in.nycjadie wrote:I wonder why Faith has done better than Harbinger: Faith 0?
I suppose it's the publicity plus the creative team, specifically the fact that they're female, that's led to a bit of a viral hit.

I also think it is the "type" of female that is often (or really never) shown in comics that is getting attention.

#1 issues sell better than #0 issues. That and there was very little publicity surrounding Harbinger: Faith #0.

"Faith #1 shipped with its first print and second print on the same day."
Um. What?

Yep. It was on Diamond's advance reorder list. I'm guessing that reorders burned through the overage fats enough that they could get the second print done fast enough to ship. Which makes the second print as significant as the first, since it was shipped the same dayjmatt wrote:"Faith #1 shipped with its first print and second print on the same day."

I'm happy for Valiant's success, but is anyone else even the slightest bit wary of purposefully going after the hipster crowd? I like Faith because she's a great, well written character, but most of the new praise I've seen has been solely because she's an overweight female. That makes her relatable because she's a real person, but I'm concerned that her physical appearance and the "geek girl" thing is the only reason people are getting interested.
Maybe I'm paranoid, but I just don't want to see one of my favorite characters become a gimmick that the 'trendy' crowd pretends to be into to score a few internet cool kid points.

If someone else likes her for reasons different than why you like her, it shouldn't really matter. Just enjoy the book and character for what she is.ChiptheRipper wrote:I'm happy for Valiant's success, but is anyone else even the slightest bit wary of purposefully going after the hipster crowd? I don't think you understood what I meant. If people only heard about her because of her appearance, that's fine. The more readers the better, and I don't care if people don't like her for the same reasons as me. I am worried she will get rabid fans who only care because she's overweight, and they will become a big enough factor that Valiant starts pandering to them. I don't want Faith to kick Aric's *SQUEE* in a 1 on 1 fight just because she's the most popular thing in comics right now (I guess you could call it Deadpool Syndrome lol).jeremycoe wrote:If someone else likes her for reasons different than why you like her, it shouldn't really matter. If they did change her into someone who could defeat Aric, she wouldn't be Faith.
You need to have faith that the Valiant guys and gals with faith in Faith will keep her Faith.

Hahaha great post Greg, I'll try to keep the Faith. However, this is my concern, Dude. (Lebowski Reference, not assuming you all are dudesiggy101us wrote:

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. That's not going to happen. They know the character well enough that they had her rescuing puppies on her first mission. She's not going Phoenix anytime soon.ChiptheRipper wrote:I don't want Faith to kick Aric's *SQUEE* in a 1 on 1 fight just because she's the most popular thing in comics right now (I guess you could call it Deadpool Syndrome lol).

Re: Faith #1 has fastest 3rd print in history
It's great to see there is a third print run, only question I have is what was the size of the first print run? we know Divinity had a number of reprints for #1 yet they weren't very big...
