Homage covers (from other publisher to Valiant comics) ?
In June's PREVIEWS catalog I found an upcoming issue of UDON's Street Fighter Unlimited #9 (AUG) that will have a homage cover variant (to Magnus, obviously) and I was and still am wondering if there are more homage covers like it - from other publishers to Valiant comics? Any ideas?
EDIT: It's 1:10 and solicited for Aug-10.

Nice find. Check out this post: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=33768" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's not exactly what you're looking for. It's Valiant homage to other comics.

The 1993 SDCC Program is homage to Harbinger #1:

Neat tribute cover. I'll have to keep an eye out in August.

It was a simple and smart idea. It will boost sales for them because I don't normally buy that book but I will buy that cover. I am sure more fans will feel the same way.

Quite the opposite and a bit too late... I would have loved to join the competition.iggy101us wrote:Nice find. Check out this post: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=33768" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just incase anyone's interested, both Cyber Akuma and Robo-Zangief (featured on the cover here) have both actually appeared in Street Fighter games, as bizarre as they are! The head of 'Q' from Street Fighter 3 Third Strike can also be seen on the floor, although it's unknown whether he's human, a robot, or a mixture anywhere in-between...
The strange Cyber Dan however hasn't featured in any game to date.

Not sure who the damsel in mistress is supposed to be though?

Yeah, I know it's Dan. 'Cyber Dan' hasn't appeared in any game to date, that's what I was saying My brother's also guessed that the grey character right in the middle might be a Cyber Sagat, but that one's a bit obscure at best I think...Sunlight on Snow wrote:That's Dan Habiki from the Street Fighter Alpha series.Shadowman99 wrote:Just incase anyone's interested, both Cyber Akuma and Robo-Zangief (featured on the cover here) have both actually appeared in Street Fighter games, as bizarre as they are! Sorry my answer didn't make sense as you had already identified Dan (as Cyber Dan).Shadowman99 wrote:Yeah, I know it's Dan. Here's Cyber Dan in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hQiXxxygtg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Keeping in mind how much the artist nailed all the other characters I doubt the guy in the middle is (Cyber) Sagat. Perhaps it's just another mod costume?

Haha! A Cyber Dan mod, brilliant!

Bad Planet #3 (published in 2008 by Image). I've never heard of this series. I saw an eBay listing that says this cover is homage to Harbinger #1. It looks close enough but not sure if it's an actual homage or if it's just a coincidence.

Harbinger vs. Spider-Aliens homage even - I kinda like it. Great find!iggy101us wrote:Bad Planet #3 (published in 2008 by Image). I've never heard of this series. I've never heard of it before either and I think I'm gonna order it... at least the first three issues. The first two issues also have covers and inks by Lewis LaRosa and the monster/villain on the cover of issue #2 (and #4+6) looks a lot like Commander Trill. Perhaps and influence (for Cary Nord), or just another coincidence? Either way it would be nice to know.

Cool.... though not nearly as good as the original. It's missing some epic background!greg wrote:

I have the first issue of Bad Planet, bought it new off the comic rack! I was under the impression that Larossa drew it with Bradstreet on inks, but I could be wrong.Sunlight on Snow wrote:Harbinger vs. Spider-Aliens homage even - I kinda like it. You're right. I double checked. Most websites list Larosa as penclicer. Unfortunately Google had sent me to Comicvine yesterday and it seems to be the only source/site that lists him as inker.grendeljd wrote:I have the first issue of Bad Planet, bought it new off the comic rack! Its great art regardless! I never saw another issue after #1 - might have to track down the rest. How many are there?Sunlight on Snow wrote:You're right. I double checked. 6 issues. There are variants/2nd prints for #1 and #2. Also a TPB and a HC.grendeljd wrote:Its great art regardless! I never saw another issue after #1 - might have to track down the rest. Actually there is #7 which seems to be a SDCC exclusive (2011) and #8 in 2013. There's also a volume 2 (2012 SDCC).
