No news on the auction?
I guess I'm not all that familar with how breaking news is reported in the comic news field but I'm surprised I haven't really seen any articles giving details on the auction (how much it cost, who the bidders really were, ect)
There was one article on Newsrama that relied on this site to say Taddeo won (and little else) and another about the trademarks being filed by a "mysterious company" which I think is much ado about nothing (probably one the bidders covering their bases in case they won, as Greg pointed out it's pending and can be turned down). That's all I've seen so far.
So are the comic news organizations always this slow, or are we the only ones who care about this one?

Good Question. I keep seeing all these price guide articles about how hot early Valiants are these days. You'd think news on the properties being bought would be on the front page of all the websites. Instead we see news about some 2nd string character getting a monthly written by some nobody and drawn by some noboy that will be canceled in 2 issues. I dunno.

I'ld atleast made a vague "Hey I won and I'm working on something with the characters" statement if I was Taddeo. You can't have too much publicity. I would definately be making some calls if I was a comic reporter because a change of ownership that could result in publication of once popular character that haven't seen the light of days in years is news. Of course I'm sure someone is, I'ld just wish they'ld hurry up .

Because that's what Knightt's doing, and he'd tell us if he saw JT there.johnpaulbill wrote:Who said he isn't doing just that? I dont think that he bought anything like that...basically he bought ideas...I could be wrong, but I dont think that any actual products were involved in the sale...I think ole antonio has the warehouse stuff..Knightt_333 wrote:If I were him I would be running buck naked through the warehouse that has all the Valiant/Acclaim stuff in it, giggling to myself saying 'it's mine, it's mine, all MINE I tell you' !!!

I'm just wondering - as indestructible as chromium is, would this affect the CGC grade?cinlach@aol.com wrote:where i'm from we call that the "chromium tango".Knightt's doing more than that. He conceived at least one of his kids while on a stack of chromium Turoks.

Okay to answer my own question in the first post apparently we really are the only people who care about Taddeo buying Valiant. It's been been nearly a week and I still have found no complete or confirmed news story on it with the basic information on the auction. Only two "developing" stories from Newsrama on the day of the auction and that's it. Has anyone seen anything that I've missed?

Just read Greg's update from yesterday. That's Taddeo's reason for not pursueing the press but there's still no reason a reporter couldn't have said that in a story and used other sources to find out exactly who was in the auction and what precisely happened. Though I suppose if you're rushed for time or don't consider it that news worthy you just wait until the obvious guy is available for a quote .myron wrote:litigationTodd Luck wrote:Okay to answer my own question in the first post apparently we really are the only people who care about Taddeo buying Valiant.
