Awesome! We can also confirm that artist Shawn Martinbrough, Diggles’ collaborator on Thief of Thieves, will illustrate the noir-inspired issue #4; Doug Braithwaite will join the book for the Civil War-set issue #5; Renato Guedes will take over for a prehistoric two-parter in issues #6 and #7; and Segovia will return with issue #8.

Couldn't help but read the preview pages when normally I try not to spoil. But forget HW2, this is what I've been looking forward to. End of March get here already.Keith wrote:Wow! I’m getting more and more toked for this series with each bit of detail! Extremely optimistic!

I am very hopeful this run will sort out Shadowman and put him back on the path to being a tent-pole character for VALIANT. XO, Bloodshot: Salvation, Ninja-K, Quantum & Woody, and now Shadowman. Now we just need HW2 to lead into a new Harbinger series, A&A to return, and maybe a return to 4001, and I'd be pretty happy with where they've landed after a rough 2 years or so. 6-8 on-goings and 2-4 mini's/one-shots per month would be just fine by me.

I think with a scheduled 2 year run, it will do wonders mapping out just who Shadowman truly is. While we may not get back to the 4001 that you are thinking of, I could see more of a 4002 type of feel, as I think that is more appropriate (since the Fall of New Japan). Think we all would be happy with just about anything RAI!!

Couldn't agree more, I'm glad he won't compromise the product for the "keep politics out of comics" crowd.Lately there’s been a vocal minority of comics “fans” loudly demanding that their entertainment be devoid of any and all sociopolitical relevance (as if Captain America or the X-Men or Black Panther never carried any kind of subtextual significance), and I’m not really interested in pandering to that kind of infantilism. If you want baby food, look elsewhere.
Awesome, I love the history spanning stories!Of course, the shadow loa is an ancient and immortal being, so the big question is: what was it doing before 1865? I don’t want to spoil it here, but the answer will have major ramifications for the Shadowman legacy.

Re: Diggle plans 2 yr journey into the Deadside
Everything I'm hearing about this book to date has me very excited for it, I think we're gonna be in for a real treat at long last with this character. But I love that he took time to say this:
That David Mack cover for #4 is awesome - easily the best image I've seen him do for Valiant to date.

This is an attitude I really appreciate towards comic book storytelling, as it seems to be disappearing from the landscape of modern comics. Make it accessible for new readers, by all means - but please don't do that at the expense of those of us who've been here for the long haul.Andy Diggle wrote:Everything you need to know (though perhaps not everything you want to know) is explained in our first issue. I’m not a fan of constantly rebooting continuity, erasing a character’s history. I think it’s disrespectful to fans, and to the process of storytelling itself. Rather than throw something away and start over, my instinct is always to try and fix what’s broken. And Jack Boniface has been through hell. He needs help.
