These all look good, and with the exception of LADOTH, they are all "of 5", which hopefully adds a little more story/meat

A nice bit of good news! I’m looking forward to each of them, but I’m not sure about Rai with long hair. They tried it once before and it didn’t work then either.

I'm just really happy that LaDoTH will actually be a thing- I had my doubts if it would ever happen.

I like the titles, writers and artists (of those I’m familiar with). But let’s see how many of these a) ship on time, or b) ship at all. I’m not getting my hopes up based on what’s been going on editorially.

Valiant Entertainment Breakthrough Lineup For 2019

Post by AnarchoMambo »

Cullen Bunn on Punk Mambo? Not in my wildest dreams did I imagine that Valiant could attract the top horror comic writer out there.

It would be understatement to say that Josh Dysart, B. Clay Moore, and Dan Abnett are not a bad batch of proven & reliable Valiant writers.

Gorham, Pollina, Suayan, and CAFU all should continue to be awesome.

I loved Dagnino’s work on Resurrection Man for the New 52.

Though some will certainly try, I don’t know how it could be possible to interpret the Breakthrough announcement negatively. (cue the cloying observations about ongoings)

Love, love, love this slate of titles.

It’s great to see a return to 4002, Punk Mambo finally get her own mini, and the Ninja program still being part of the broader continuity.

War Monger and now Punk Mambo minis - good move imo!

I dont invest in short term. And three unknows are just that. Fallen world looks good but I will wait for issue one to come out and hear the reviews.
Ladoth is the greatest thing since for ever.

Holy s***!! Cullen Bunn and Dan *SQUEE* Abnett?!? Rai, Ninjak (wow my phone auto corrects that to Ninja-K now, apparently), Harada, and *SQUEE* Punk Mambo! Oh my god, this is great news! I mean, it's unfortunate that none of these are ongoings, but still, this is a solid lineup. Even after the editorial shakeup, this might be the best news I've seen come from DMG. Maybe this announcement is the new guy in charge's way of trying come in swinging and gain everyone's attention fast.

That's funny because most of the valuable comics from Acclaim are from the mini-series (Deadside - three issues, Shadowman Vol 3 - six issues, Armorines Vol 2 - four issues, Unity 2000 - only 3 of 6 produced), and let's not forget the Turok Evolution store exclusive (EB Games)... that was just a one-shot.

So are we thinking that there's still something big that's going to be announced for June?

A "breakthrough" lineup?!? Followed by the words "with four limited series"?

It might as well say "Valiant unveils regularly reused IP's with new titling, and craps out four more limited series books in order to abstain from any real publishing commitment."

I can see the publishing direction meetings where some head clown wore his suit jacket and is sitting at the head of the table around which is Valiant editorial. MBA-suit-guy says with a measured cadence (as if he is a pensive and wise businessman - a leader of men), "this is very important and we need to proceed very carefully in our publishing plan" (as if these ominous words have actual, tangible value). And so in response, their best idea is to crap out four re-branded limited series in a now unrecognizable universe lacking cohesion and reader interest.

Man, I hope the Bloodshot movie is amazing and that the Harbinger follow-up is appealing to something more than the "Mockingjay" crowd....

Certainly a better looking line-up than the last batch (Valiant Beyond). Remaining cautiously optimistic.

As a trade waiter I really love Valiant's price point. Especially for Volume 1's and 4 issue minis being priced at $9.99. I wonder if the 5-issue trades will be priced the same or higher?

yesterday's shake up had me on the fence finally (or officially, I can't decide). But Abnett, Bunn, B Clay this is awesome and entirely unexpected news. When added to my excitement for Livewire and Live and Death of, it's impossible to jump ship right now.

Bunn is one of those guys I see his name, and I buy. Harrow County is a work of art, Damned/Sixth Gun/Dark Ark are fun... I would've never have matched him up with Punk Mambo. I hope they let him get gory. I really want her to make up for the lack of a decent John Constantine book.

Abnett is only getting better and better as a writer, I was recently thinking about whether or not Valiant could get him and if people wanted his return after his Shadowman run for Acclaim. His Aquaman is my favorite run, one of the best titles of Rebirth. His run on Legion of Superheroes is what this is reminding me of. It was tight action and dire circumstances with a cyberpunk influence.

In Meyers We Trust.

I don't mind the mini-series thing. Why is everyone so hung up on continuous numbering? What does it matter? a good story is a good story, whether its 4,5,6,8,12,25... as long as the story is told in its entirety.

WE ALL KNOW that we are only going to get 6-10 issues a month from Valiant. Why keep being upset and want more? I think it is actually smart... the way they are doing it. Why you say? Why am I the lone idiot in this line you ask?
1. They have 2-3 ongoing titles at all times. (Powerhouse titles... Bloodshot, Ninjak, X-O, Harbinger, A&A) Whatever proves its self (sales wise)
2. Allows for new things to be tried (Eternity, Savage, Britannia, Secret Weapons, Divinity) and you have to admit... there have been some stellar results. Who in their right mind in today's market would start an ongoing of say... Britannia? uhhh... no one... but lets see what the market thinks of this little mini series.
3. I DO NOT want to see Divinity on 224... and people go... yea... I hear thats badass... but 224...yea... no thanks...
4. Rotation, rotation, rotation. Allow new pitches by different writers and artists and keep the characters fresh and not burned out like ohh... say ANY Marvel or DC favorite character.
5. Besides, what is it that everyone *SQUEE* about here? I wish they would bring blah blah back.... well guess what... its human nature to WANT WHAT YOU CAN'T HAVE. This way Valiant keeps you wanting more... Take Imperium for example... look how stoked everyone is about LaDOTH.
6. I'm sure there is more reasons but Im hungry...lol

Just went to valiant's website and checked out (not reading) the preview.
Can not help to feel a little sad because this is the only time Dysart will ever write for Valiant, and he's doing it from the heart, for the fans.
Bummer this whole DMG thing and all the confusion since, I just want this series in my lap, asap.

Looks like we're getting bumped up to 7 books a month!
March: X-O, BRS, LaDoTH, Livewire, Incursion, Forgotten Queen (6)
April: X-O (probably final issue), BRS, LaDoTH, Livewire, Incursion, Forgotten Queen, Punk Mambo (7) :o
May: Fallen World, BRS, LaDoTH, Livewire, Incursion (final issue), Forgotten Queen (final issue), Punk Mambo (7) :o
June: Fallen World, BRS, LaDoTH, Livewire, Punko Mambo (5)
July: Fallen World, BRS, LaDoTH, Livewire, Punko Mambo, Killers (6)

There is most definitely something cool happening in June that we don't know about yet.
