Re: BRAINSTORMING SESSION! Valiant unresolved storylines...
The problem is neither of the above...but we as posters are always putting our headcanon and conjecture into a current post. Which is exactly why (reading back on this thread) I added my comments about UFO tech and Faraway Tech never being mentioned again, despite PRS being a staple of the Valiant Universe. That advanced tech would have sure come in handy during the Armor Hunters incident. So, are A+A like Q+W and their continuity doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things? That just gave me an idea! Why wasn't Mary Maria in the just concluded Doctor Tomorrow run? But General Heels (Capshaw) was so very realistic...p'shaw! If nothing else, Mary Maria could CERTAINLY have been in that overblown alternate universe battle in #1. I've been waiting to see her again way more than GN-GR and General Heels.Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:15:34 am I cannot believe this "pinned" thread is still on page 1 (one)!
Maybe the problem isn't too many unresolved storylines but simply not enough stories?!?
And that comment about Armor Hunters got me thinking too...where were the HARD Corps during Armor Hunters? I've actually looked a little bit at the continuity of Bloodshot, but I haven't read past Mission Improbable so I'm not sure what condition HARD Corps is left in when (I think?) HARD Corps and Bloodshot and PRS all battle it out right before the opening of Armor Hunters.
I'm also wondering where other VU characters were during AH. I suspect there was PLENTY of fan conjecture at the time the event was published, and I am merely very late to the game. But I've already puzzled on this...and they never reveal (as far as I know) how the Alien Hounds in NYC were defeated... although we see most of the other Hound battles. So there's smoking gun #1. And wasn't Orb Industries with that rich Vine traitor in NYC? And wasn't Commander Trill hiding out in a bunker in NYC? And isn't ComicCon in NYC? And didn't Archer first find Armstrong in that bar in NYC with all those bras on the wall? Back in the Deliquents was Armstrong's apartment in NYC (I don't recall?) Hasn't Toyo Harada got headquarters in NYC? (seriously I don't recall)
I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

UFO tech from Roswell and the Faraway isn't very advanced.
GATE & Capshaw have been using alien tech all the time. GIN-GR's basically working for GATE, too.
PRS' technology--nanites and neural implants--are far more advanced than the Roswell and Faraway Tech as well. Remember Deathmate!
I don't even want to see each and every character in all the events. Like Doctor Tomorrow, many of the characters are not even supposed to be there--if the story takes place in the present day of this Valiant Universe. Characters should only be used when it makes sense to use them (powers, availability, and actually making use of them; they don't need to just bystanders). Where had A&A been during AH? IIRC they were having trouble with the Lizard King.
The Armor Hunters Hounds?!? They were killed by Bloodshot, Ninjak, and X-O Manowar. That's what the heroes are there for! Yes yes yes, we might have seen more than 10 different hounds and only half of them or so were killed in panels but that's not really a big mystery that needs solving. If some of the Hounds survived in the sewer tunnels of Manhattan they were certainly eaten by the Bloodshot zombie herd during BS USA later on.
Re: BRAINSTORMING SESSION! Valiant unresolved storylines...
From VH1, but I recall being mocked ~10 years ago when I expressed sadness that the original Ninjak title ended mid-storyline.
Apparently no one much was reading that title after issue 20 or so (or...to be fair, maybe issue 10).

Bloodshot (Vol. 2) #16
In the current universe he might still be running around somewhere....or he was just a false memory.

First, thanks for trying to protect me from spoilers. Keep it up. Although not always needed, you are being cool.
You make a good point that the PRS nanites and HARD tech appear much more advanced than A+A UFO tech and Faraway tech, but I got the distinct impression that it was hinted that the UFO/Faraway tech was the foundation or origin of all or most of the PRS tech. Right? Or do I misremember?
Also, I agree that GATE having alien tech (Vine) and GN-GR is also a good point, but didn't that all come about AFTER the events of the Armor Hunters? At the point of the Alien Hounds (for instance), wasn't it just MERO and aware of Vine tech but didn't have much?
Oh and I COMPLETELY agree about Mary Maria in your comment about it being undesirable to have too many and wasted characters. I was just thinking at least Mary Maria would have been cooler AND made more sense than some characters in Dr. Tomorrow.
Why do you say A+A were busy with the Lizard King? I don't recall any reason that those events took place instead of AH. We're there any ties I don't recall? I feel like before or after are both somewhat possible.
And what's with the Remember Deathmate! thing? Are you referring to VH1 Deathmate or is there another one in VEI?

Hmm, A&A ran into Roswell. I don't remember if there were any connections to PRS. Then again, PRS were part of the Sect. I need to re-read this now.Oxmyx wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:59:06 pm Weirdly, I just saw this reply.

Mary Maria, she's on the run with the sisters (Bronson's my favorite). Last time they were seen in Belgium IIRC.
A+A being busy with the Lizard King.....because those issues were released around the same time.
Deathmate. Hehe. You need to read Bloodshot Reborn (asap)....which is one of the best VEI stories.

Yes you DEFINITELY need to reread the A+A infiltration of Roswell, looking for the PRS connection.Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 5:15:37 amHmm, A&A ran into Roswell. This could as well be a really bad joke (by Bunn)....and we will never see him actually playing. Just talking about it. Wearing funny shirts. Seeing other players. But never really picking up the sex by himself. This may work for you. For me, it's still "ages" away from the original run, where we've seen Jack Boniface in a jazz club in every other issue. There were no excuses. So the basic question, "will he remember how?" still stands.

Re: BRAINSTORMING SESSION! Valiant unresolved storylines...
I don't think it was a one off joke, as later he talks about a sax that was at that party. I mean, yeah, it would be nice to see him play, but I don't think he should go back to the 90s, in my opinion (even though I loved the 90s stuff) it comes off as cheesy how much Jack use to talk about playing. But I agree I would like to see him play.Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 3:55:32 amNo he isn't! What he said is "You know, I had a gig tonight. But in universe he clearly knows how to play, it's not like he forgot, otherwise he wouldn't have a gig again. I'm sure they wouldn't have hired him if he forgot how to play. And it wasn't just on the cover if he has brought up the sax twice in this series.
But hey, I guess it's a difference of opinion on how much I want to see him play and how much you want to see him play haha.

....which brings me back to this:
Looks like some information about the nanites could have come from the stuff the Greys and Redacted are wired up to in the Faraway.
I'm gonna re-read the entire run asap....then Bloodshot (2012).
MM and her sisters appear throughout the Rafer Roberts' Adventures of A&A. During the first arc they're part of the main story. After that they're in their own side story that isn't very relevant to the main story but still fun. Besides that, they only appear in Delinquents and The Valiant.
Haha, it seems I had totally forgotten Area 51 was a "delta site" from PRS.

She certainly wasn't doing much. There's a (1) panel in Delinquents #3 -- during the flashback scenes where different groups with connections to A&A/Q&W were in search of the (hobo code) symbol -- in which she's threatening someone else with her blade so they would tell the sisters where the symbol was hidden. Then there's that messy battle between the VU and the Immortal Enemy in the Valiant where she has another short cameo.Oxmyx wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:54:18 amAre you SURE Mary Maria was in Delinquents and The Valiant? As for XO's wedding, there's a panel where you could argue that black-haired chick could be her but it could also be anyone else. You can barely see the entire face and the nose (or so) is even missing. Next panel featuring A&A + Faith that chick's gone. So, I rather say it's some random chick with black hair.

I'm sure they wouldn't have hired him if he forgot how to play.

Re: BRAINSTORMING SESSION! Valiant unresolved storylines...
@Greg:
Mine are as follows:
VH1
1. What plans there were for Jillian Alcott (what were the circumstances and who was planned as the perpetrator)?
2. The plans for Andar as Geomancer to tie Turok closer to the Valiant Universe, including how Geoff would die and was it Shooter's intention to explain his appearances in Rai #0?
3. The character called Zachariah Muldoon stalking Solar?
4. Our time period’s Rai was never intended to be Bloodshot so what Shooter's plans might have been for our period's Rising Spirit?
5. One I’m severely needing a resolution to: In Eternal Warrior Shooter had a story planned to reveal the secret of the Harbinger strain, so whether it would reveal Gilad as the forefather of all Harbingers or simply the first one? If so, how!
6. Whether the Laugher in the Dark Master Darque?
7. What the backstory was leading up to Shadowman’s death in 1999?
8. Where in space had Aric sent the X-O armour in Rai #0, and what the plan was behind bringing it back to Earth?
9. Was Grandmother ever provided with an origin/ identity?
9. How Bloodshot's nanites could be so valued over 2,000 years into the future when technology would have become so much more advanced in the interim. Otherwise was the original nanite technology not from our era but somewhere else?
Or perhaps even going back and fixing the ending of Unity as he intended, without interference from Michelinie so that Tohru Nakadai didn't die but instead wandered the world with his infant son following Japan's crash back to Earth (his wife dying in the crash), a sort of whacked out future Lone Wolf & Cub.
Other areas worth exploring could be whether Gilad and the Geomancers ever came to blows (I don't mean a minor disagreement, but rather have they ever been in major opposition) and if so, who that particular Geomancer recruited as their alternative "Fist and Steel".
In addition, what I never understood about Bloodshot/ Rising Spirit in the original VU is how his blood could be so valued over 2,000 years into the future when technology would have become so much more advanced in the interim. Otherwise was the original nanite technology not from our era but somewhere else? So that might be interesting to explore through a Rai #0 fix.

1. When Ninjak, etc. are going after the Shadow Seven, does Kindt indicate where the other two are, given they only ever come across five? Does he count the Monk or Roku among them, as I don't recall there being any suggestion they were included among their number!?
2. The classified character with ties to Valiant's present and future in 4001 A.D.?
3. Harbinger #14: Did Carter, from Project: Rising Spirit, end up hiding himself in Harada's mind and he's been lying there dormant since 1969 waiting for his opportunity to take full control of Toyo?
4. 4001 A.D.: Father refers to Rai's use of the X-O Mech-Class Armor against him as a "nuclear abomination" that he "dares to bring to New Japan". We learned that Harada similarly has an aversion to nuclear weapons when, in Unity #1, he stated "Nuclear weapons will never be used on human beings again." In addition, in Rai #1, has the titular character first seen with the prunus serrulata at the top of New Japan, and in Harbinger #1 Harada takes Peter "Sting" Stanchek to the "idealized garden of his youth" which also includes oriental cherry blossoms. So, I suspect further clues. Although I always got the feeling from Harbinger Wars that Carter, from Project: Rising Spirit, ended up hiding himself in Harada's mind and had been lying there dormant since 1969 waiting for his opportunity to take full control of Toyo. If so, that would seem to make the idealised motifs from Harada's youth coming up in New Japan's design seem rather odd!?
5. Why does the Bleeding Monk bleed – and for that matter still manage to survive despite continuing to bleed out? Is it some special kind of blood? Is it that he was possibly the first (recorded) psiot, after activation he discovered that his power was immortality, he founded a monastery and he gathered other psiots to him to activate, meditate, and train with him, an army of soldiers of indeterminate origin (??) attacked his monastery, tried to kill him with an ancient spear that was supposed to be able to kill immortals and this is what caused the wound in his abdomen that never quits bleeding? While transfixed by the spear he discovered a latent power to be able to experience all moments of his life at once, including the far future, the present, and the past. In some sense he is perpetually impaled on the spear, and this is what allows him to see the "future" (i.e. if he is living in all times at once, it is not really the future or the past, but the now for him). And what was the origin of the ancient spear?
6. Rai #6: Are Izak's race descendants of The Trill?
7. Fallen World #2: With Lula's talk of "Free Wills" and the face of Father, was this suggesting an introduction of the Malev Emperor?

Re: BRAINSTORMING SESSION! Valiant unresolved storylines...
All seven members have been revealed.jrnewto wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 11:48:19 pm 1. Kannon was their leader...Roku, Barbe, Sanguine, Fitzy, Fakir, and Ninjak was a former member too.
What's the question? Who's it -- War Mother --, or what are the ties? Either way, I believe the story or mention that the character was first seen in Book of Death wasn't that well planted....and made little sense. Just a marketing gag. But that would be the connection.
Possible.....and intriguing.
Uh, I need to reread those stories but, yes, this seems to be a good analysis.jrnewto wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 11:48:19 pm 5. It sounds as you haven't read "Book of Death: The Fall of Harbinger" yet. You may find some answers in there and more questions, of course.
The Trill isn't a race. Commander Trill is Vine. Izak's race was bio-engineered by Father and should have acted as protectors of New Japan but opposed Father instead. Their rage towards Father is just a minor hint and homage to VH-1's Izak and his rage (when agitated).
Yes, for a very short moment I was also thinking the stone face looked awfully familiar to the Malev Emperor but then I immediately had the feeling Father was behind it in one way or another. It's a really cool homage and way by Dan Abnett telling the reader he's aware of previous story lines; incl. VH-1's, and that there will be some sort of continuity....which then suggested Father (rather than the return of the Malev Empire).
